Itinerary

Enjoy a 7-night itinerary through Sri Lanka's breathtaking scenery. Spend time exploring the Cultural Triangle before venturing onto Kandy to discover the wonders of the Temple of the Tooth before some down time in the Hill Country, surrounded by the stunning scenery of the tea plantations.

  1. Days 1-4: Sigiriya

This week-long itinerary starts in the Cultural Triangle, home to Sri Lanka's cultural heart. Within the region you’ll have access to the incredible rock fortress of Sigiriya, Dambulla's five cave temples offering a great insight into Buddhism in Sri Lanka and ancient Polonnaruwa. With your private guide / driver who will be with you throughout your journey in Sri Lanka you’ll be able to visit all these sights and be totally flexible with how much time you stay at each depending on interests. For wildlife enthusiasts we can also include a stop at Minneriya National Park, known for one of the world’s largest populations of Asian Elephants.

Accommodation: Water Garden Sigiriya (3 nights)

  2. Days 4-5: Kandy

Next, to Kandy, the last capital during the Sinhalese Kingdom and part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. What remains now is city brimming of beautiful architecture and an array of fascinating temple complexes. In this itinerary we have included visits to the key highlights with stops at the Temple of the Tooth, Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist relic and the beautiful Botanical Gardens.

Accommodation: The Kandy House (1 night)

  3. Days 5-8: Hatton

Your final stop will take you up the misty hills to the land of tea. The Hill Country is home to picture perfect emerald tea fields and there's no better way to enjoy this beautiful scenery than by taking the train. Head from Kandy to Hatton where you will enjoy three nights in the heart of the tea country with stunning views over the Castlereagh Reservoir, providing the perfect place to relax at the end of your trip. For those that like to be more active there is still plenty to do and see here, with walks and treks through the tea plantations and surrounding countryside and visits to working tea factories, learning how the tea leaves are expertly processed.
