Seville Artisans - Tiles and Ceramics Workshop
Discover the unique art and techniques of tile painting with the local artisans of Seville!
The center of the ceramic industry has always been in the vicinity of Triana. Ceramic has been produced there using local river clay since the time of the Romans. But it was during the Moorish period that the art of painting and glazing tiles truly developed. Forbidden to represent living beings, they created abstract geometric designs that are still common today. Visit the ceramic workshop in the heart of the Triana neighborhood, where you will learn all about the history of ceramics and the different techniques.
During your class, enjoy a practical demonstration given by a tile painting professional and ceramic historian. In the workshop, there is also a potter's wheel where you can try making ceramic bowls, pitchers, or vases. This class teaches you the historical journey of ceramics over time and allows you to experience painting some tiles. When the class ends, your tiles will be ready to be glazed and then fired in the kiln.Private Guadalquivir Cruise in Seville
Discover Seville from a different perspective, aboard a private boat along the Guadalquivir River and its history-filled banks, where merchants' ships once unloaded gold, silver, and tobacco when the city still held the commercial monopoly with the New World. From the deck of a modern, silent, and eco-friendly boat, you will see some of the most important monuments. Sail past the Torre del Oro, a medieval tower (12th century) that once controlled Seville's port, the Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza, one of the oldest bullrings, legendary monasteries, and pavilions from the modern Expo 92. You will cruise through the popular Barrio de Triana, home to flamenco artists, and also past the Isla de la Cartuja, where Christopher Columbus planned his journey.

The funerary chapel, in Gothic style, displays art treasures, the cenotaphs of Catholic monarchs, Joan the Mad and Philip the Fair, Renaissance masterpieces, a golden altarpiece and a collection of paintings by early Flemish geniuses (Hans Memling, Van der Weyden and Dieric Bouts), along with other artists such as Boticelli.

Andalucia has a Mediterranean climate, making it a year round destination. In general you can usually rely on pleasant or hot temperatures from April to early November. In Andalucia there are plenty of warm, sunny days right through winter. The best time to visit Granada is in the Spring and Autumn when the temperature is just perfect with warm sunny days. During July and August it can be very hot and some days the temperature reaches 40°C. In August the locals head to the coast and much of the city closes.
