Summer rainfall, normally in the form of thunder storms are usually in the evening, however, the African climate is still always unpredictable. This lodge has so many unique touches you could not have a boring stay here. The decor is modern with African touches. The varying accommodation and experiences they offer make it perfect for families, groups and couples. The rooms are beautifully appointed with large baths, indoor and outdoor shower as well as a staggered deck with a day bed. For children they have a huge array of activities and also a large fenced play area so there is no chance of boredom as well as a sound proof indoor children's playroom. For a more romantic trip away they have a large spa room perfect for couples massages and a fantastic outdoor bath overlooking the waterhole as well as wine tasting in their cellar. The main highlights for this lodge are the waterhole hide which has been superbly constructed so that you barely feel like you are underground but it allows for the most incredible up close encounters. The food is to die for, there are 5 chefs at Mhondoro as one of the owners main focus' is to have excellent quality food right in the middle of the bush. The dinners are light and well presented and paired with an incredible selection of wines.

This is a beautiful lodge, healthy food, great safari guiding, stylish accommodation and great hosting - what more can you want! I love that the owners are trying to break the mould of safari lodges a bit, making the meals more healthy and light, breaking away from the khaki colours in the decor. The southern part of the reserve is stunning with vast open plains reminiscent of East Africa - I recommend a visit at least once during your safari.
