Description

Housed in a 15th-century convent located just outside the charming town of Evora, Convento do Espinheiro offers a comfortable and historic base from which to explore Portugal's beautiful Alentejo region.

Situated close to the centre of Evora, Convento do Espinheiro offers a tranquil retreat close to the capital of Alentejo. Once a convent dating back to the 15th century, Convento do Espinheiro is full of history, with design touches transporting guests back through time.

The Convento do Espinheiro now has 92 rooms and suites, many of which take inspiration from the hotel's fascinating past, incorporating traditional style with modern touches. A selection of the rooms are designed in a classic 1950s style, offering guests the choice of a more contemporary decor.

Set within eight hectares of land, Convento do Espinheiro has ample space for its facilities, including an outdoor pool and relaxing spa. Guests can unwind at the Diana Spa, named for the Roman Temple of Diana in Evora, and feel the benefits of treatments such as hydrotherapy and facials using purely natural products.

Divinus Restaurant is located in the convent's former wine cellar, used by the monks to store wine. Serving cuisine typical of Alentejo, the menu at Divinus uses local ingredients to create traditional dishes with a contemporary twist. Guests can also enjoy cocktails at the poolside bar or in the Claustrus Lounge, set among the convent's ancient cloisters.
