-
Days 1-3: Muscat
This luxurious tour begins with two nights at the Chedi Muscat in the centre of Oman’s capital city. Boasting the longest pool in the Middle East and a luxurious private beach, the Chedi is the ideal place to relax. Venture out of the hotel alongside your guide for a half day tour of the city to visit the Grand Mosque, beautifully crafted using materials from around the world, including Indian sandstone, an enormous Iranian carpet and a Swarovski crystal-encrusted chandelier from Germany. The Beit Al Zubair Museum is also well worth a visit, giving an overview of Omani traditions, society and dress. Do a spot of shopping at the souq in Muttrah where jewellery and scarves can be bought.
Accommodation: The Chedi Muscat (2 nights)
-
Days 3-4: Muscat
From Muscat you will head out to sea on board the luxurious four cabin Orana catamaran. The sailing will be leisurely, enabling you to swim and snorkel around Bandar Khairan and the Damaniyat Islands, both home to an abundance of marine life and corals. The yacht is luxurious and provides a unique stay on the water.
Accommodation: Oman Sail (1 night)
-
Days 4-7: Nizwa
After a night on board, trade waves for mountains as you head up to Nizwa in the stunning Al Hajar Mountains. Here you will encounter charming mountain villages with stunning views such as Bilad Sayt. Nizwa is the old capital of Oman and the home to Jabrin Castle and the UNESCO protected Bahla Fort. Spend a day with your guide exploring the local industries of the area- notably bee keeping and carpet weaving. If possible, definitely make time to visit the Friday market where livestock and other necessities are sold, as it provides a fascinating insight into traditional Omani life. Stay at the luxurious Alila Jabal Akhdar for three days giving you ample time to explore the mountains, but also put your feet up simply enjoying the views.
Accommodation: Alila Jabal Akhdar (3 nights)
-
Days 7-8: Wahiba Sands
From Nizwa you drive deep into the desert, sightseeing as you go. You will pass traditional dhow yards, lush wadis and dramatic sink holes, so feel free to stop and refresh yourself with a quick dip in these cool oases. In the afternoon you will arrive at your camp, the luxurious Canvas Club. This is an exciting way to get off the beaten track and indulge in a truly unique experience. The dunes of Wahiba Sands stretch as far as the eye can see and the camp can be set up well away from the road and any other desert camps. The desert is the perfect spot for watching the sun set and enjoying a sundowner on top of a dune and then doing some star gazing after nightfall.
Accommodation: Canvas Club (1 night)
-
Days 8-10: Muscat
After one night under the desert stars, you head by road back to Muscat for a final two nights to relax and unwind before it’s time to head home. We have included an opportunity to enjoy a traditional Omani coffee with the curator of the Bait Adam museum, which will give you a chance to learn a little more about the fascinating history and culture of Oman.
Accommodation: The Chedi Muscat (2 nights)
