Insider's View

If you would like an evening gin and tonic or glass of wine, remember to bring your own alcohol with you as the camp does not have a licence to serve it.

Combine camping in the mountains, desert and on the coast for a true portrait of Oman

During your time in Wahiba Sands, see if you can attend a camel race or market

When the camp is lit up at night with candles and lanterns, it really is magical

Whilst this is luxurious from an exclusivity and service perspective, the camp tries to remain authentic with bedouin-style goat-hair tents and long-drop loos

Lucy Black (Staff)

What an amazing experience! Having your own private camp set up just for you feels very special indeed.

The staff at the camp are absolutely charming, and offer fantastic service - on hand should you need anything, but always very discrete.

The main tent is a lovely place for relaxing with a book, or enjoying a board or card game. You can also have a shisha pipe set up for you, and the staff will bring you pots of delicious Arabic tea. They can't provide alcohol however you are more than welcome to bring your own and they can chill and serve it for you.

Dinner was delicious and made with such fresh ingredients. Breakfast is a plethora of choice, including cereals, yogurt and pastries.

The bedroom tent feels very authentic as it is made with goat-hair which keeps you cosy in the evenings, and the beds are so comfortable, with beautifully soft linen. There are also lots of nice extras, like bottles of water, lanterns and torches.

Ok, the bathrooms have long-drop loos so are maybe not the most glamorous in that sense, however the staff keep them immaculate! And it all fits in with keeping things comfortable but authentic.

  • Al Hayer Falls

Get off the beaten track to explore the Al Hayer area of the popular Wadi Bani Khalid. This stretch of the canyon is away from the more frequently visited pools, offering hours of fun-filled adventure.

  • Day trip to Nizwa {with the Friday Market}

Nizwa was the capital of Oman in the 6th and 7th Centuries and is one of the oldest cities in Oman. There is a lot to see here and in the surrounding area including a bustling Friday market, the restored Nizwa Fort and date farms.

  • Lunch with a Bedouin Family

Whilst life in the desert may seem like a harsh environment, many people still choose this as their home. Visit the house of a Bedouin family, where you can enjoy a traditional lunch and learn more about their day to day life and culture.

  • Nizwa Friday Market

Visit the local Friday market in Nizwa.

  • Wadi Shab Swimming Adventure

Stop off at a wadi and enjoy the beautiful surroundings where you can enjoy a gentle walk, or even a swim in the water.
