Good time to visit

Average time to visit

All year round destination, although the best time to visit Damaraland is from May to September as the temperature is tolerably cool, especially at night. The optimum game viewing times are between June and November. The land will have dried out meaning animals must again come to waterholes to drink. Summer (November to April) also known as the rainy season is best time to travel to Damaraland for bird watching as migratory birds (both intra-African and Palaearctic) flock into the park's many habitats after the summer rains.

Sorris Sorris is one of four new luxury lodges in Namibia, offering a truly opulent base for exploring Damaraland's rugged desert scenery and searching for desert-adapted elephants. Just nine suites ensure truly personal service and attention to detail.

One of four new luxury lodges opening in Namibia, Sorris Sorris is an exciting new addition to the safari circuit. Located near Brandberg Mountain in Damaraland, the region is characterised by dramatic mountain and vast desert scenery, with ancient rock art sites, rocky boulders just begging to be clambered up for a sundowner, and some fascinating wildlife. Go on nature drives in search of the desert-adapted elephants which roam far and wide in search of water, following ancient pathways.

The lodge itself offers a wonderfully luxurious experience, with no detail left unconsidered. You'll be welcomed at the door with a cool glass of champagne, and this sets the tone for your stay. Cuisine is a real highlight, with expert chefs creating delicious dishes combining local flavours with international twists. There are just nine beautiful suites, each designed to take in the surrounding landscape but filled with all of the creature comforts you'd expect and more. Pale woods, crisp linens and modern architectural design contrast with the rugged mountain terrain and offer a stylish base for your adventures.

The Sorris Sorris region is part of a community-based conservancy, where local tribes and communities benefit directly from the lodge and its profits, in exchange for working on conserving the environment and its wildlife.

The owner of the lodge was adopted and by communities in rural Namibia as a refugee from Angola when he was a child, and after his own success in business, wanted to give back to these rural communities by building these four lodges as a thank you. This vision of local people in poor and remote areas of the country directly benefiting from tourism is a big part of what makes Sorris Sorris special and you'll learn more about this during your stay.
