Places to Visit in Namibia
Known for its ever-changing landscapes and wide-open skies, there are numerous beautiful places to visit in Namibia. If it’s your first time in the country, many will opt for the classic self-drive circuit which ticks off Namibia’s highlights while still giving you the feeling of being alone on the open road.
Starting in the capital of Windhoek with its strong German influences, embark on a road trip taking in the sweeping sand dunes of the Namib Desert at Sossusvlei followed by the coastal city of Swakopmund, which gives you a taste of Namibia’s rugged and dramatic coastline. From there, head north into Damaraland famed for its rare desert-adapted species and ancient rock art, before finishing with a safari in Etosha National Park, where wildlife abounds. If you would prefer to do something completely different, consider visiting some of the farthest-flung reaches of the Skeleton Coast, hiking Fish River Canyon or venturing to the lush waterways of the Caprivi Strip.
