Rome enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate. Summers (from June to September) are hot and dry with temperatures often soaring to 37°C. High humidity is also common, particularly in July and August. Winter tends to be moderate, at least by northern European standards, with temperatures averaging around 10°C to 15°C between December and February. Spring (March to June) and early autumn (September and October) are the best times to visit Rome, with lovely blue skies and mild temperatures. November and December are the two wettest months.

Starting in mid-June, the summer rush really picks up, and from July to mid-September the Rome teems with visitors. August is the worst month: Not only does it get uncomfortably hot, muggy, and crowded, but the entire country goes on vacation at least from August 15 to the end of the month (many Italians take off the entire month). Many hotels, restaurants, and shops are closed.

    Day 1 – Welcome to Rome

    Arrive at Rome Fiumicino Airport where a friendly driver awaits to whisk your family to your city-centre hotel, ensuring a relaxed start to your holiday. Kids can spot their first glimpses of ancient monuments, while parents settle in and everyone enjoys the freedom to rest, play, or start exploring Rome’s magical streets at your own pace.

    Day 2 – Gladiators & Roman Adventures

    Kick off the day with an unforgettable family experience at the Colosseum, where your expert guide transforms history into captivating stories that bring ancient battles, roaring crowds, and heroic gladiators to life. Little ones can imagine themselves as Roman adventurers, conquering epic challenges and learning fun facts along the way.

    Next, step into a “virtual Roman home,” exploring colourful mosaics, lively kitchens, and playful courtyards with interactive multimedia displays. Kids discover what life was like for Roman children, sparking curiosity and dazzling imaginations.

    In the afternoon, unleash family fun at Gladiator School! Everyone can don Roman tunics, try hands-on sword training (with safe foam weapons and costumes), and laugh together as you learn playful skills with a real Gladiator instructor—making cherished memories of teamwork, friendly competition, and joy.

    Day 3 – Da Vinci Treasure Hunt & Cooking Fun

    Begin with a whimsical treasure hunt across Rome: the family must team up to crack clues hidden by a mysterious inventor, find secret locations, and solve playful riddles about Leonardo da Vinci. Every success earns a new piece to assemble at the Da Vinci Museum, inviting all ages to work together and discover brilliant inventions.

    The afternoon is a delicious adventure! Meet your chef for a private pizza and gelato class, where kids roll dough, shape pizza, and create their own colourful designs. Everyone gets hands-on whisking, mixing, and tasting in a lively kitchen setting, before enjoying a well-earned, family-style feast featuring your own creations.
