Set in an other-worldly scene of moss-covered lava and bright blue geothermal waters, The Retreat at Blue Lagoon lives up to its name, offering a luxurious escape from Iceland's wild and rugged landscapes.
Comprised of 62 suites, The Retreat at Blue Lagoon has been designed to provide the utmost in comfort while feeling like a real home away from home. Decorated in neutral tones, every suite acts as a soothing, relaxing sanctuary, with luxurious materials used throughout and blackout curtains to block out the Midnight Sun, ensuring a good night's sleep during the summer months. Each suite also boasts a private terrace or balcony, overlooking either the rugged lava fields or the private stretch of lagoon surrounding The Retreat. A selection of suites even offer access to their own private heated lagoon, the perfect place to unwind in the healing waters at any time of day or night.
While the suites provide a tranquil atmosphere, the spa at The Retreat is the star attraction. Nestled within an 800-year-old lava flow, the spa incorporates the surrounding nature and its health-giving properties into its treatments and facilities. Winding through the lava is The Retreat's private lagoon, where guests are able to enjoy a peaceful experience soaking in the mineral-rich waters, although the spa also offers direct access to the main Blue Lagoon. Guests can choose to relax in a huge variety of spots in the spa, many of which have combined contemporary architecture with the towering walls of lava. Warm up in the sauna or steam cave, enjoy the view from one of the comfortable hanging nests, or enjoy one of the revitalising treatments on offer. Each guest can also benefit from the Blue Lagoon Ritual, a relaxing therapy making use of the Blue Lagoon's unique natural properties - mineral salt, silica and algae.
The Retreat at Blue Lagoon provides three dining options which also incorporate Iceland's natural products, with many dishes featuring local seafood. Choose from the relaxed Lava Restaurant, where delicious Icelandic cuisine is served throughout the day, the Spa Restaurant for lighter fare, or Moss Restaurant, where five and seven-course fine-dining tasting menus are on offer in stylish, contemporary surroundings.
