The main season runs from November to April - the Chilean spring/summer, when all activities are possible. It's also worth visiting in autumn, when it's still very beautiful for simply relaxing and hiking. The small ski resort being built on the volcano means that even winter brings its own draw. The area is prone to rain all year but is wettest in July and driest between January and March. Visit in early February to catch Frutillar's classical music festival.

The Antumalal is located in Chile's picturesque Lake District near Pucón and has been welcoming guests for years. It is situated on a tranquil wooded hilltop overlooking the stunning Lake Villarrica and is surrounded by 14 acres of spectacular park land.
Antumalal has a long history: built in 1945 by a Chilean Architect in the Bauhaus style, the hotel attracts guests because of its extraordinary architecture and the surrounding park and gardens. Each of its 16 rooms feature panels with local woods and stones, private fireplaces and large picture windows with views to the Lake Villarica and gardens. The best thing about Antumalal for me, was the atmosphere which is completely charming and wonderfully cosy. The hotel has been in the same family since it was built in 1940, and this resonates amongst the staff, there's a real friendly, family vibe which makes it easy to feel at home and completely relaxed.
Pucon is the adventure capital of Chile nestled inbetween 2 National parks with lakes and volcanos at every corner, so it's paradise for anyone outdoorsy and active! The 'chalets' are fantastic for families, with the feeling of a log cabin, floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the lake and endless amounts of activities to keeps the kids entertained.

Hotel Antumalal has such character, the architecture and the interiors are amazing and so beautifully thought out. Since Hotel Antumalal was built in the 1940's it remains a family run hotel and you can really feel that when you stay there. Every room has incredible views over the Villarica lake and its own log burning fire which creates a really cosy atmosphere.
Chilean architect Jorge Elton designed this hotel between Lago Villarrica and the volcano of the same name in 1945. It is a perfect illustration of the harmony of form, environment and function. Behind the cool exterior are the essentials of a log cabin; each of the 22 rooms is panelled in wood and has an open fire. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the lake and lawned gardens. Guests have included Queen Elizabeth II and Neil Armstrong.
