At a Glance
Offering a unique experience to camp on the Salar de Uyuni in a luxurious dome tent, each dome has everything you could need along with spectacular views over the salt flats.

The camp runs on a full board basis, with all excursions included so you can spend your days out exploring by bike, on foot or in the vehicle. Enjoy the incredible and differing landscapes that you will see at every turn - from cacti-studded islands to vast salt plains and brightly coloured lagoons.

Average time to visit
Although the salt flats can be visited all year, they are regularly flooded from late November until April, meaning that itineraries must be altered to accommodate the difficult travelling conditions. The surface during wet season becomes like a giant mirror and is a particularly popular time to travel for photographers! Due to the altitude/elevation, the temperature drops at night and can feel very cold.

Embark on an unforgettable journey through the wild and otherworldly landscapes of southern Bolivia, camping out in the heart of the Salar de Uyuni in a luxurious dome camp and exploring the epic scenery of the world's largest salt flats.
This luxurious glamping site can be found at the base of the Tunupa Volcano, right in the heart of the remote Salar de Uyuni, one of Bolivia's most iconic attractions. This expansive salt plain is the largest in the world, and sits amongst some of the most impressive altiplanic scenery, from multi-coloured lagoons to lunar desert where bubbling geysers and thermal springs await.
The camp itself is made up of just six space-age style dome tents, each with expansive windows to maximise the views over the lunar landscapes of the salt flats and to allow guests to soak in the incredible star-studded sky at night. Each tent is complete with hotel standard furnishings and has been designed with comfort in mind, while remaining stylish. A wooden screen separates the bedroom from the bathroom and ensures privacy. The bedroom interior is carpeted, with the bed facing the window to ensure the views can be enjoyed to their full potential.
Throughout your stay, all meals and soft drinks are included, as well as excursions on and around the salt flats. Dining is provided by the highly acclaimed La Paz restaurant Gustu, which has won numerous awards for its cuisine - a delicious blend of traditional Bolivian fare and innovative contemporary dishes. Excursions include visits to islands covered in giant cacti, archaeological sites, the Tunupa volcano and the charming village of Coquesa, where a cave shelters ancient mummies.
Kachi Lodge offers a maximum of 18 guests the chance to stay in 6 luxury domes. Each heated dome is equipped with plush locally sourced interiors and private shower and washrooms that are separate to the bedroom space. The lounge dome offers space to relax as well as indoor dining. Outside, there is a large terrace with wooden benches and coffee tables. Food is provided at the lodge by La Paz's multi-award winning Gustu Restaurant.
Activities are included during your stay at Kachi Lodge with a private guide and 4x4 at your disposal. There are lots of options available but one not to be missed is a morning hike to a nearby "island in the salt" that is covered in cacti and offers breathtaking views across the Salar. Head to visit the village of Coquesa and visit its ancient mummies that lie sheltered in a cave 600m above, another place to take in beautiful views of the vast white expanse. Those wishing to do a little more than just stretch their legs can embark on a 2 hour hike to the impressive Tunipa volcano's lower crater and people with an interest in the local community and life at the salt flats may choose to visit the quinoa fields or walk with the llama farmers and their herds. Whilst the wet season is popular among photographers in particular, those wishing to try their hand at paddle boarding across the Salar may do so if the water level allows! Finally, end your days peeking through the lodge's telescope and observing the Altiplano's incredible starry sky.
