From mid May through to early August the days are warm and clear but the night time temperatures can drop below freezing. September through to May is generally hot in the day and warm at night, Hwange sees rain from late November to April.
The best time for game viewing is from August to early November, water is scarce, the bush has died back and game congregates around the pumped waterholes. Birdlife is prolific during the rainy season, and although the game has dispersed due to readily available surface water, this is still a great time to experience Hwange as the National Park hums with life.

The small Khulu Bush Camp overlooks an ancient riverbed, in today’s terms called a ‘vlei’, known to attract a variety of the greatest wildlife and bird life in Hwange National Park, right on your doorstep.
Khulu Bush camp is situated in a private concession bordering the well known wildlife rich Hwange National Park. This intimate camp is smaller than its nearby sister camp, Ivory Lodge, but retains the high levels of service in a true wilderness setting.
The beauty of this camp is the combination of luxurious contemporary design mixed with old world hospitality. The name of this camp is actually taken from the affectionate title give to one of the directors of the property, meaning 'grand father' and the old world feel reflects this.
Khulu Bush Camp boasts just six thatched safari suites built onto platforms which cause minimal impact to the environment and the camps' surroundings. Each of these contemporary suites has an indoor and outdoor shower and balcony for game viewing as well as an individual tea and coffee service. The honeymoon suite has an additional outdoor bath and swinging pod chair for a truly romantic experience in the African Bush. The camp has a total capacity of only 12 people.
Enjoy your wilderness experience on twice daily game drives and fascinating bush walks or perhaps explore the local culture on guided community visits.
Enjoy game drives in both the camp's private concession and the main Hwange National Park.

Despite being outside of the main park, the wildlife in camp at Khulu was unbelievable! There were elephants drinking from the pool when we arrived and, after dinner, the huge numbers were only made more magnificent by the enormous herd of buffalo that joined them.
