Best time to Visit

There are two very distinct seasons at the Victoria Falls, the wet/flood season and the dry season. These seasons do not reflect the quantity of rain, rather reflect the volume of flow of the Zambezi River. From around March through to July the river surges in size as the rainfall in Angola and Zambia from months before swells the current. The falls are at their most dramatic at this time of year with huge columns of spray. The nights are cold and the days warm at this time of year. From around September to January the water levels drop, the falls are more accessible and views are clearer as the flow can drop in volume by 90%. It is worth noting that the rains come from late October through to February, this combined with high heat, 40 celsius or more, in October and November, causes high levels of humidity.

Description
Set in a beautiful location overlooking unspoilt bush, Stanley Safari Lodge borders the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park offering spectacular views of the spray of Victoria Falls in the distance.
With just ten chalets, the lodge has a small and intimate feel and is the perfect place to spend a few days to explore the falls or combine with a safari. Each room is unique and all constructed from local materials. There are four suites each with their own private deck with plunge pool and a lounge area. Two of these suites are completely open so you can fall asleep to the sounds of the bush at night. Two have more of a colonial feel with elegant furnishings and art work and are fully enclosed.
There are also six cottages which offer a lovely, homely feel. Again there are a choice of closed cottages and open cottages to choose from depending on the level of experience guests are looking for. They all encompass the style of a safari, with a little luxury thrown in - the terraces offer amazing views of the Zambezi valley.
Stanley Safari Lodge offers guests the opportunity to join a guided tour of the falls each day as well as a visit to Mukuni village and a visit to the Livingstone Museum. For those looking to explore further a field additional activities can be arranged at an extra cost. The lodge is located just a 10 minute drive from the falls as well as many of the additional activities including boat cruises on the Zambezi, canoeing, white water rafting or game drives in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.
When out and about, walking through Victoria Falls town you may experience hassle from street sellers, normally offering old Zimbabwean currency and small wood carvings. Our advice is to say you are not shopping, and if you would like to buy souvenirs you should go to the official craft market.

While Stanley Safari Lodge isnt positioned on the river like most of the lodges in this area, it does feel like you are in a totally different world here with the most incredible views down onto the Zambezi. I stayed here in the dry season and the views were breathtaking but I can imagine they would be even better in the green season when everything is lush and green. Most of the rooms are completely open at the front although there are two rooms, which do close at the front for anyone who feels a bit nervous.
