February half term is one of the busiest times of the year in the Alps, as many families hit the slopes. If you are heading to the snow this half term, here are our top tips on coping with the crowds and getting the most out of your holiday.
- The early bird catches the fresh tracks - by catching the first lifts you can enjoy carving down freshly-groomed pistes without another soul in sight and avoid the ski school rush. The slopes on the outer edge of resorts tend to be much emptier, make a beeline for these early on.
- Avoid rush hour - ski during the lunch rush between 12 and 2pm then enjoy a late lunch. Stop for a hot chocolate or vin chaud for elevenses to keep energy levels high then ski till early afternoon to make the most of the quieter slopes. We supply Rude Health snack bars in our chalets so fill your pockets to ensure you don't go hungry on the slopes.
- Make reservations for lunch ideally before you travel or ask our resort teams to help you when you arrive at your chalet.
- If you’re travelling without young children and looking to eat out in the evening book a table a bit later around 9pm - many restaurants will be doing two sittings and things will be a bit less fraught later on - and it gives you a bit more time to enjoy the après...
- Airport parking - don’t leave this until the last minute and risk there being no availability – we have negotiated discounted rates with Meteor Meet and Greet Parking - so click here to book your place now.
