The ski season in the United States is longer than that in Europe. Most resorts open sometime in November, with Thanksgiving (the fourth Thursday in that month) being a common opening time, and stay open until mid to late April. The Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Wyoming have the highest peaks and due to the semi-arid climate, have abundant snowfall with some great powder. The exceptionally high altitude means December through to February can be extremely cold, with temperatures sometimes reaching as low as -12C, although the skiing conditions remain very good. Warmer temperatures in the Spring mean more variable skiing conditions and softer, forgiving snow.
Located at the foot of Vail Mountain, The Sebastian - Vail is one of the resort's stylish luxury boutique hotels. In the heart of Vail, and minutes from the slopes, this 4* hotel is friendly and welcoming, offering great service for families and couples.

Personally, the Sebastian is my favourite hotel in Vail. The moment you step out of your car you are warmly greeted and ushered into the lobby, you are made to feel at home right away. The atmosphere inside the Sebastian is like a luxurious home from home, a great place to spend time whilst off the mountain and away from the shops. I also really like the location of The Sebastian. You have Vail Village right on your doorstep where there is the pedestrian area with lots of shops, restaurants and an ice skating rink too. To the Lionshead Chairlift or Born Free Express its about a 10-minute walk - however, the superb driving service can just drop you off at a moments notice, it is no problem at all. There is also a ski bus which runs every 5 minutes and stops outside the back of the hotel which is actually really easy and we tended just to jump on the bus after a days skiing, it wasn't very busy and it was quick too.
The Frost bar was good fun, a great place for an evening drink and again the atmosphere was very welcoming. The baristas are friendly and helpful and more than happy to recommend and create drinks to your taste. Talking of beverages, you can't miss the Sebastian's Signature Hot Chocolate it is not like any hot chocolate you have had before, it was amazing (it is very filling so you need to leave some space!).
At the spa you have the saunas and the steam rooms where you can unwind after a day on the slopes. The Spa Team are happy to recommend face scrubs and treatments that you might benefit from (I spent a lot of time enjoying the fantastic recommendations!). The outdoor pool and hot tubs create an extension of the spa outside, it was especially pretty around the pool when it was snowing.
If you are looking for a hotel which is very personable, welcoming and friendly I couldn't suggest a better property. I felt like a very valued member of the family during my time here.

The Sebastian enjoys a prime location in the heart of Vail Village, you are moments from the pedestrianised centre with shops and restaurants on your doorstep. The ski concierge store your skis at the ski base so you do not have to carry the equipment at all. The style of the property is contemporary yet cosy with beautiful soft furnishings and artwork. For more space opt for a residence which are great for families with full kitchens and living room.

In the heart of Vail Village, the Sebastian is a fantastic spot from which to enjoy a week in one of the most sought after ski resorts in the world!
Choose from a full buffet breakfast in Leonora restaurant or 'grab and go' smoothies / pastries or a breakfast burrito from the Market cafe. It's then just a short walk down to the Base Camp where your skis will have been safely stored overnight and you can jump right on Gondola One ready to start your day!
In the evenings enjoy the outdoor pool and hot tubs by the fire pit, use the sauna and steam room, or enjoy the lively atmosphere of the Frost bar with a cocktail before heading out for a delicious dinner in one of Vail's many restaurants.
