Maui's West Coast is the sunniest part of Maui, and is a year round destination with a tropical climate, with the very best months being April to October. Temperatures are high throughout the year but never excessive, as humidity levels are manageable. There is a rainy season from December to March which is also ironically, the tourism high season, when the scenery is at its most lush and long, hot days break up the rainy spells.

Following a $70 million renovation, this particular Fairmont was recently named the top hotel in The Fairmont brand and I can definitely see why. There is a tranquil white theme throughout the entire property, 80% of the rooms have coastal views due to the clever design of the building, all rooms are either suites or villas and the standard of facilities are worthy of their 5 star rating!

On prime beachfront in the exclusive Wailea area of Maui, the Fairmont Kea Lani really does tick a lot of the boxes for a family holiday for guests looking for everything on tap. It is a larger hotel and set in a horseshoe shape so that all the suites have at least a partial view of the ocean and of course, the fabulous sunsets over the ocean. The main benefit of the hotel is that it is all suite. The rooms were refurbished in 2014 and offer spacious accommodation true to the Hawaiian style. The resort does feel quite buzzy and busy although it's quite nicely laid out so that there are more family orientated areas as well as adult only with a more tranquil pool. The lawns also ensure plenty of space for sun loungers too. For those wanting more space, there are townhouse style villas down toward the beach. These give a more home from home feel with built in kitchens and private terraces with plunge pools. The beach is only a few strides away.

Whilst not being the most exclusive hotel, the Fairmont Kea Lani offers very good value for money and of course, there is the Fairmont Gold Club floor which offers more exclusivity and the private lounge, I would recommend that for guests who would like a little more privacy.
