Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Tanzania is a large country, with a varied climate. Generally, the long rains run from March to May - the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. June to October is the long dry season, and the short rains are in November and December, much lighter than the long rains. January and February are again dry (the short dry season) so this is another good time to visit.

Days 1-4: Selous Game Reserve
Your journey begins in Dar Es Salaam where you will be met by an airline representative and assisted to the domestic terminal, where you will hop onboard a light aircraft flight to the Selous Game Reserve. Flying over this labyrinth of waterways, wetlands and vast, verdant forests you will arrive at the airstrip and meet your guide. Your home for the next 3 nights is Selous Kulinda Camp, which is located just outside of the game reserve. Hidden amongst dense forest on the banks of the Rufiji River, this camp has a wonderful location to view wildlife from. After you have settled in, enjoy a sundowner on your private veranda and watch a pod of hippos submerged in the water or crocodiles basking in the sun, with a backdrop of the burnt orange sky as the sun begins to set.
In the morning, awaken to the sounds of sunbirds and kingfishers as rays of sunlight settle on your tent. Your guide will take you out on a full day game drive, passing jovial elephants and towering giraffes as you go in search of lions and leopard. If you’re in luck, you may come across a pack of African wild dog and you’ll watch in awe at these highly intelligent canines whilst they interact as a family in search for prey. In the evening you can view the wildlife from a totally different perspective as you drift down the Rufiji River on a boat; with a gin and tonic in hand, feel the warmth of the setting sun as you observe a family of elephants sauntering along the river, with the vibrant colours of the Malachite kingfisher catching your eye. Your following days will be spent tracking more animals and really immersing yourself in the wild.Accommodation: Selous Kulinda Camp (3 nights)

Days 4-11: Zanzibar Coast, Zanzibar and the coast, Tanzania
Now it’s time to head to the beach. After a final morning game drive, you will board a light aircraft flight to the exotic island of Zanzibar, just off the coast of Tanzania. As you step off the plane, feel the exotic balmy heat as you are met by a smiling representative who will assist you through the airport. Your driver will meet you and transfer you to the north of the island, passing scatterings of villages and lush vegetation. You will arrive at Z Hotel on the Nungwi Peninsular, your home for the next 7 nights. This young and vibrant hotel surrounded by pretty gardens is positioned on one of the most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar, which is barely affected by the tides, meaning you can swim at any time of the day. After checking in to your room, relish on a seafood lunch on the terrace of the Cinnamon restaurant overlooking the ocean before plunging into tranquillity in the warm azure water. As your first day in Zanzibar comes to a close, head up to the rooftop bar and enjoy a cocktail whilst gazing out at the brilliant orange sky as the sun sets on the horizon. The following days can be as chilled out or as energetic as you wish. Soak up the fascinating history in Stone Town, Zanzibar’s capital, and meander down the narrow streets lined with beautiful architecture and bursting with colourful spice markets. Take advantage of Z Hotel’s dive centre and drift through scatterings of tropical fish in the marine reserves in the north. Or laze on the powdery white sands with a drink in hand, watching the fishermen bringing in their catch for the day.
