Insider's View
To start planning your holiday to Pine Bay Lodge
Description
Pine Bay Lodge is a boutique hotel nestled in the Luleå Archipelago in remote Swedish Lapland. In the classic Swedish red cottage style and with just a handful of guest rooms, Pine Bay is comfortable, warm and welcoming.
On the coast of the Luleå Archipelago in Swedish Lapland lies Pine Bay Lodge. With just eight guest rooms, a stay here will provide an exclusive Lappish experience like no other.
Built in the traditional Swedish red cottage style and, in winter, surrounded by the frozen sea, Pine Bay Lodge offers a warm and welcoming retreat from the cold. All of the guest rooms are spacious and comfortable, and each has en-suite facilities. A real home away from home, the communal area of Pine Bay Lodge is an open-plan lounge and dining room, complete with an open fire, which makes for a great spot for an evening drink with regional delicacies or for swapping stories of the Arctic with your fellow travellers. For those looking to really unwind, Pine Bay Lodge even has its own sauna - the perfect place to relax after a day out in the Lappish wilderness.
Pine Bay Lodge's fantastic location is the star attraction here. The Luleå Archipelago is comprised of around 1300 islands, is home to just 100 residents, and during winter the sea can freeze up to one metre deep. This makes for some truly one-of-a-kind excursions out in this unique landscape. Try snowmobiling out to the furthest islands in the archipelago, or for a real adrenaline rush, explore the frozen sea in a hovercraft! You'll come across huge masses of ice, 250-year old fishing villages, and maybe even some of the local wildlife.
Facilities
Pine Bay Lodge has a lovely open-plan lounge and dining area, where meals come courtesy of head chef Frans Hedblad. With a focus on local ingredients, you'll discover regional delicacies such as Arctic char, local caviar and even moose!
Activities
Pine Bay Lodge's location lends itself to some truly unique experiences. During the winter months, when the sea has frozen, it's possible to explore the Luleå Archipelago on snowmobile or even hovercraft. Travel to the furthest islands of the archipelago and discover quaint, traditional fishing villages, or try your hand at ice fishing. Learn how to drive your own husky sled, or discover the forests of Swedish Lapland by snowshoe.
