Kahanda Kanda is a stylish boutique retreat on a private tea estate above Koggala Lake. Offering total seclusion with easy access to Galle and the south coast, it’s an elegant, design-led escape blending nature, privacy and understated luxury.
Highlights
Set on its own tea estate - take a walk and learn about the whole tea process and meet the tea pluckers
Beautifully designed individual rooms do not make this feel like a hotel but rather a decadent home
Fabulous food served in the beautiful dining pavilion or at any located within reason within the property
Not for families with young children - under 12s aren't allowed at the hotel
Set high above Koggala Lake on a private tea estate, Kahanda Kanda is an intimate boutique hideaway where each suite and villa has been individually designed with its own personality and sense of place. Accommodation is spread across a collection of elegant suites and private villas, many featuring their own plunge pools and outdoor living spaces that make the most of the jungle and lake views.
The feel throughout is more private residence than hotel, with interiors blending contemporary Asian design, antique finds and rich textures that reflect the owner’s distinctive eye for detail.
Days are intentionally slow: lounging by the infinity pool, enjoying spa treatments, or simply relaxing in your suite or villa surrounded by nature. When you do venture out, Galle Fort, nearby beaches and the south coast’s surf and lagoon experiences are all within easy reach.
Dining is relaxed and seasonal, with dishes inspired by Sri Lanka’s coastal and estate-grown produce, served in the open-sided restaurant or privately in your villa.
Kahanda Kanda offers a more intimate, design-led alternative to larger coastal resorts, ideal for those seeking privacy, character and effortless access to southern Sri Lanka’s highlights.
