Start at The Temple of Heaven, divided up into an inner part and an outer part. Take time to walk around with your guide and look out for the most magnificent buildings; The Circular Mound Altar (Yuanqiutan), Imperial Vault of Heaven (Huangqiongyu) and Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest (Qiniandian). Other points of interest include the Three Echo Stones and Echo Wall.
Next to The Summer Palace which was first built in 1750 and named Qingyi Yuan (Garden of Clear Ripples). Commissioned by Emperor Qinglong as a gift for his mother's birthday, it took 15 years to complete. Learn about the history of this beautiful palace - many of the rooms were destroyed in 1860 by foreign troops and later it was renovated by the corrupt Empress Dowager Cixi, who built the garden that you can see today. After China's liberation, the garden was transformed into a park and got the name Yiheyuan (Summer Palace).
