Our Favourite Beaches

From pink hued sand in Crete to a rustic and remote stretch of sand on Brazil's northern coast, below are our favourite beaches from across the globe.

Aldeia Beijupira, Brazil

Set on one of Brazil's most gorgeous beaches on an undeveloped stretch of the palm-fringed Alagoas coast, Aldeia Beijupira is a magical boutique hideaway. Lazy summer days on the beach or by the pool are followed by great caipirinha sundowners and award-winning food, and you can explore the nearby mangroves looking for manatees, go for long walks along the beach and take one of the local jangada boats out for a sail.

Amanwella, Sri Lanka

Amanwella on the South Coast of Sri Lanka is home to one of the most striking beaches in the country, located in an 800m crescent-shaped cove, fringed with palm trees. During the winter months guests can enjoy swimming on calmer days, while snorkelling is possible along the southern headland, usually protected from the ocean swell during the dry season.

Barefoot at Havelock Island, Andaman Islands

Few people have heard of the Andaman Islands, located between India and Burma. It is for this reason that they remain an undiscovered paradise, offering turquoise blue waters, and white sandy beaches. It has been rated by Time Out as the best beach in Asia. The diving here is remarkable, and for those wanting a Robinson Crusoe barefoot escape, this destination is ideal.

Danai Beach Resort, Greece

The Danai Beach Resort is located in unspoilt Halkidiki in Northern Greece, just 45 minutes drive from Thessaloniki Airport. This small but luxurious hotel boasts its own private sandy beach, and a beach bar serving elegant cocktails with fabulous views over the crystal clear Aegean waters. Rooms and Suites offer guests superb and luxurious accommodation, some even have private pools, the perfect place to totally relax and unwind.

Esencia, Mexico

The perfect place for a winter escape, Esencia is an intimate and stylish small hotel located directly on the beachfront, overlooking one of the Riviera Maya's prettiest white-sand beaches. Great for couples and families alike, the service is exceptional, and there is an organic spa and plenty of things to do, from exploring Mayan ruins to swimming with dolphins and snorkelling.

Pink Sands Beach, Harbour Island, Bahamas

Wake early and wander down to this incredible beach as the sun is rising. The delicate pink of the sands exudes at this time of the day and you can walk for a mile on the soft powder white sands without seeing a soul. During the day the beach attracts locals and visitors alike and there's a relaxed and friendly vibe.

Six Senses Con Dao, Vietnam

The Six Senses Con Dao on Vietnam's southern coast is newly opened and is already receiving glowing reviews. Each villa enjoys stunning views of the South China Sea and also has a private infinity pool. The resort offers guests fantastic dining, with a beach side restaurant to Ms Len's own market restaurant, eating here is every foodie's dream. And for those looking for adventure, why not try a trek through the local mangrove forests or a visit to nearby turtle or bird island.

Tsarabanjina, Madagascar

Off the northernmost tip of Madagascar and only accessible by a two hour speedboat ride, boasts a robinson crusoe style white sand beach on all sides of a pristine island, with superb diving. Sunloungers and umbrellas are dotted about, for the ultimate in relaxation – or take a snorkelling trip right from the shore and see some of Madagascar’s wonderful marine life.

Vamizi Island Lodge, Mozambique

Situated in the northenmost part of the Quirimbas Archipelago in Mozambique, is a barefoot beach paradise with a long stretch of white sand beach overlooking turquoise waters. The diving and snorkelling are incredible because the beach is surrounded by a reef, and there is the possibility of glimpsing humpback whales direct from the beach in the later months.

Vomo Island, Fiji

Unlike many paradise beaches that are geared exclusively towards idyllic, romantic getaways, the beaches on Vomo Island are not only powder white and worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster, but the property is ideal for families. Explore the pristine reefs and turquoise lagoons and soak up the laid back Fijian atmosphere, whilst the children enjoy the kids club and learn about local turtle conservation.
