If you're visiting Sossusvlei, the best thing to do is avoid the summer, which is extremely hot. Therefore, the best time to visit southern Namibia is in winter (May and September) but bear in mind that the desert regions can be bitterly cold at this time of year. The climate of the southern coast is hospitable from February to May, but quite cool and misty year-round, and particularly windy in August.

Wolwedans Boulders Camp is situated 45kms south of the other Wolwedans camps, and is set in the lee of a collection of massive granite rocks. There are tremendous views from this stunning location right across the NamibRand Nature Reserve.
The camp accommodates a maximum of eight guests in four spacious en-suite tents, each of which is beautifully furnished. The main area houses a dining room, lounge tent, breakfast deck and open fireplace. There is a wonderful sundowner spot close by with stunning views across this beautiful reserve.
Accompanied by experienced guides, visitors are introduced to the many facets of NamibRand Nature Reserve's desert habitat with its diverse fauna and flora - on foot, by car, or from the air.
Guided scenic drives and two to three hour walking safaris treading along the ancient hunting grounds of the bushmen are all on offer to guests. A special attraction at NamibRand is hot-air ballooning. If a plane is available, scenic flights to the Diamond Coast and Sossusvlei are undertaken during the late afternoon. For hiking enthusiasts a walking trail can be arranged.
Accommodation is in just four spacious tents which are all en-suite and are on raised decks nestled against the rocks and have spectacular views overlooking the plains. The tents have four poster bed and open sides so that you can soak up the landscape around you.
Children under the age of 6 years are not accepted at Wolwedans Boulders Camp. Parents who travel with children over the age of 6 are kindly requested to be fully responsible for their children at all times.
The main area has a sophisticated dining and lounge tent which is elegantly decorated. The lounge tent has a small library and some comfy sofas to for you to relax in with a book in a shaded area. Wolwedans Boulders Lodge is in the most stunning an remote spot and you dont get much further from civilisation than here. The lodge is nestles under a huge hill covered in boulders and it is a wonderful place to escape to. As the lodge only has 4 huge tented rooms it works well if you want to take the lodge on an exclusive basis for a group of friend or a large family group. The days can be as action packed or relaxing as you like. As there is no big 5 game on the reserve it is perfectly safe to go for long walks or set up an easel and paint.
