Hiking in the High Atlas Mountains
These co-operatives were set up through independent and government funding allowing the women of the region to support themselves and be sustainably independent, as well as providing the opportunity for literacy education.
You will then journey to Tassa Ouirgane (1,500m) in the Ouirgane Valley, where you will begin your trek to Tiziane (1,800m). The route will take you through the juniper and redwood forests of the Tassa National Park and along the beautiful red-soiled Azzadene Valley. As you pass out from the forests there are stunning views of the surrounding mountains where you will also encounter small isolated hamlets and villages. Here you will stop for a picnic lunch in the vastness of nature – bursting with traditional Moroccan fare focusing around the seasonal fruit and veg of the region. Tagine, home baked breads and pancakes, jeben fresh cheese, dates, cooked tapas style salads.
