Villa Samadhi is a hidden gem in the busy capital of Kuala Lumpur. This is one of the few boutique luxury properties in the city, and is ideal for couples looking for a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle, with warm, personalised service.
Despite being set in a fairly quiet location in a residential area, Villa Samadhi is just a 10-minute walk from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. This offers the best of both worlds; being able to easily explore the key sites of the city, and then retreat to a peaceful haven after a busy day of exploring. The hotel only allows guests over the age of 12, and so this is perfect for honeymooners and couples.
The property is designed to feel like a traditional villa. There are only 21 rooms and they are all wonderfully spacious, with large beds, lots of floor space and enormous bathrooms. They all have an outdoor terrace, some with direct pool access. The higher room categories have a Jacuzzi tub or plunge pool, and a few even have a kitchenette.
The villa encompasses a charming pool area, dotted with shaded cabanas and fringed by lush green plants and trees. There is only one restaurant at the hotel, but it is excellent, offering a range of local and international cuisine made using seasonal produce. You can also benefit from a complimentary shuttle to the hotel's sister restaurants around the city.
There are only 21 rooms at Villa Samadhi, and so it is worth being aware that it can get booked up very far in advance. The rooms are incredibly spacious, with a modern Asian design. All of the rooms feature modern amenities such as air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and a minibar. The bathrooms are also huge. As well as rain showers, some of the higher categories have a Jacuzzi tub or a plunge pool.
Villa Samadhi only accepts guests over the age of 12.
Given that there are only 21 rooms, Villa Samadhi does not have a huge amount of facilities. However the facilities that the property does have are absolutely charming. There is a lovely free-form pool in the central courtyard, furnished with comfortable cabanas. There is also an excellent restaurant which serves Western and local cuisine. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to its other restaurants in the city.
There is plenty to fill a couple of days' stop-over in Kuala Lumpur. There are city tours, foodie tours and excursions further afield, where it is possible to visit a traditional Malaysian village, or explore the enormous Batu Caves to the north of the capital.

Villa Samadhi is an alternative place to stay at in Kuala Lumpur as it is a small boutique hotel rather than a high rise city style hotel. It has a very tranquil atmosphere and it is almost as if you aren't even in the city! This could be a plus or a minus, depending on personal preference. Perhaps if you are there for a minimum of two nights, this may be quite a nice option as it has a lovely big pool with comfortable pavilions to relax on and you can enjoy a much more personal service than a bigger hotel. All the staff will know you here as there are only 20 rooms so it really is quite special. It is best for couples as it is not particularly child friendly, although the rooms are massive; they only have two extra beds that can be supplied. It would make a great first night or two for a honeymoon if you are flying into Kuala Lumpur.

It's incredible to find such a charming boutique hotel, quite so close to the city centre. Samadhi is located on a very quiet street in a very residential area. The hotel has 20 rooms, all varying slightly. The downstairs rooms have step access to the pool and their own decking for more personal privacy. I particularly enjoyed my evening at their award winning restaurant, Tamarind Springs. Although they have a restaurant on site, they offer free transfers to their sister restaurants around the city which is a lovely touch. The breakfast goes on all day and their pool is an incredibly soothing place to relax. Its hard to imagine you are a ten minute walk from the hustle and bustle of the city.
