Whatever you want from a ski hotel, be it great service, stunning views, a bit of romance, culture or a wonderful children’s club, here is our pick of the best ones.
With the combination of our new exclusive Scott Dunn Mini Explorers children’s club, a fantastic choice of family rooms and lofts, along with ski-in/ ski-out access direct onto the slopes, the Portetta really is an all-encompassing option if you are looking for a wonderful family holiday. Throw into the mix ‘Fire & Ice’; the hottest outdoor slope-side bar with its fire pits, ice shots, wood-fired pizzas and fur snuggle bags and you’ve got the perfect combo.
There can not be many hotels in the Alps that boast a 600 year old wine cellar tucked away behind locked gates where Kings and Heads of States have sampled the best wines of the world. Famous for both its world class collection of Bordeaux and Burgundy wines and it vast array of exquisite Austrian wines, the Arlberg Hospiz will impress both wine connoisseurs and non-connoisseurs in equal measure.
With its elevated position perched high above Zermatt, we think that the Cervo has the edge when it comes to views. Every room in this hotel looks out onto the iconic and breath-taking Matterhorn, so you can sit back and ‘drink in’ the stunning vistas from the comfort of your own balcony or terrace.
For those who do not have a huge budget but still want a fantastic mountain experience, the Christiana is hard to beat. A superb location, excellent food, fantastic facilities and a friendly, family atmosphere all combine to make the Christiana one of our most popular options in Val d’Isere. Even at such good value, the Christiana doesn’t compromise on quality or service which is why our guests keep coming back year after year.
Nationally recognized as the number three spa resort in Canada by Condé Nast’s 2012 readers’ poll, this world-class spa with 15 treatment rooms provides a superb choice of therapies including massage (also available in room), hydro-therapy, couples treatments and beauty therapy. The therapists use natural products including seaweed, fresh fruits, wild flowers, pure essential oils and clay harvested from British Columbia’s glacial lakes. For an après-ski warm down you can make use of the complimentary fully equipped gym and the beautiful outdoor swimming pool or alternatively have a cocktail in the hot tub.
There can't be many places in the world that count John Wayne and Gary Cooper as former guests, but the Jerome in Aspen can. From the moment you walk in, the Wild West theme is apparent -you will be warmly greeted in true Colorado style by bellmen in cowboy hats and boots! Many original features from the 1900s remain, from the original front desk to the gold ceilings in the Library bar and J-bar. Walls are plastered with framed pages from old newspapers, offering a fascinating insight and makes for entertaining reading on the way to your room!
We pride ourselves on offering the best service to our guests, which is one of the reasons why we have chosen the Kristiana in Lech as we feel that they really understand what outstanding customer service is all about. There are ski butlers on hand to greet you each morning, giving you the latest ski conditions and helping you with your skis, and a boot butler will relieve you of your boots on your return. Now that is what we call service!
We firmly believe that there is something for everyone at Le Kaila, Meribel’s newest and first five star hotel. It is in an ideal spot if you are looking for a ski-in/ski-out location, has a fabulous spa, dedicated kids areas for both little ones and teenagers and for foodies, the gourmet restaurant serves up the very best in local specialities using the finest seasonal produce.
If you share a love and appreciation of art and literature, then the Sebastian in Vail will not disappoint. With lots of contemporary artwork around the hotel (plenty of abstract art and statues!), the Sebastian is stylish and vibrant with a warm welcoming feel. At the heart of the Sebastian is the library, filled with books, games and art - it's a fun place to indulge in a bit of wine tasting or have a light snack.
Children are treated like kings at La Sivoliere. The "Petit VIP" service for children aged 4 - 12 years old offers a personalised welcome for children at the mini reception, a Petit VIP Mocktail, their very own Petit VIP passports and VIP currency, allowing them to buy pancakes, pastries and refreshments throughout their stay. Installed at their "Mini 1850", they can read the Petit VIP menu of the day on a large blackboard, while sitting by the fireplace and studying their drinks menu of "mocktails" and smoothies. The Petit VIP room has a "sensitive floor" - a novel system for projecting 3D interactive images onto the floors and walls, so children can interact in their play.
