Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
The only time to avoid Kenya is during the long rainy season in April and May. November is considered the short rainy season, however, these are less predictable and are much lighter. The best time of year to visit the Maasai Mara is during the Great Wildebeest Migration which tends to pass through the Mara between mid July to late October.

Description
Naibor is a stylish and luxurious tented camp situated on the banks of the Talek River, in the Maasai Mara, Kenya. Naibor offers seven beautifully appointed safari tents with lovely views across the Talek River and a wonderful, relaxed ambience.
Naibor is located within the Maasai Mara Game Reserve near the confluence of the famed Talek and Mara Rivers. Designer, Anthony Russell has successfully applied his contemporary style, with muted bush colours, spacious canvas tents with king-size fig-wood beds, soft cushions and wool rugs which all makes for a supremely comfortable experience. Each guest tent has a private shaded veranda, bush shower and lovely views of the surrounding bush and wildlife.
The main ‘mess’ tent overlooks the Talek River, where animals regularly come to drink, and squashy floor cushions, soft rugs and sofas are an inviting spot for a pre-dinner drink after an exciting game drive. Dinner is served either at private tables or as a shared banquet.
The main activity here is game viewing and guests can enjoy morning, all day or evening safaris. Bush meals and sundowners are also popular, and are often enjoyed in conjunction with a game drive. The “Out of Africa” style bush meals are set up for any number of people in a private exclusive location. Bush breakfasts and packed lunches can all be arranged. Sundowner cocktails are a popular way to enjoy the end of the day.
Naibor is perfectly located for those who hope to experience the wonder of the wildebeest migration. There is fabulous wildlife viewing throughout the year, and from July to November the annual wildebeest migration passes through this area. Naibor is ideally located close to all the major wildebeest crossing sites over the Mara River.
Accommodation
Main Naibor has a total of seven tents. Each tent is a private unit complete with shady verandah, his and hers wash basins, en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and safari shower. The tents are all carefully positioned amongst the trees so that each can enjoy the surrounding woodland in complete privacy.
Little Naibor is located within the immediate vicinity of Naibor Camp, and is made up of two spacious suites which are uniquely designed. Each suite contains a double and a twin bedded room, with their own bathrooms, inter-joined by a communal lounge and verandah area.
Located within the immediate vicinity of Main Naibor is Naibor Wilderness, made up of three double tents. This is a little more rustic but still wonderfully luxurious. Each guest tent is a private unit complete with shady verandah, his & hers wash basins, en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and safari shower, filled daily with hot water on request. The tents nestle amongst a riverine forest and are spaced so that each has a unique view of the surrounding bush and wildlife.

Luxury Suite | Luxury tented suite with one double room and one twin room which are inter-connected with a sitting room. There is a shady verandah and en-suite bathroom with a safari shower and flush toilet. |
Childcare
Naibor is not suited to very young children as the camp is unfenced and for this reason a special request must be made to bring children under the age of 8 years. Older children can hugely benefit from the experience of an African safari and the educational and inspirational nature will keep them happily entertained. Food can be tailored to suit children and earlier meal times can be arranged where necessary.
Facilities
Naibor's large 'mess tent' area for dining and relaxing has a bar, library and sociable camp fire area all of this overlooks the Talek River and a resident pod of hippos. There is a Naibor Spa tent, carefully secluded giving the perfect ambience for enjoying a massage, reflexology, a manicure or pedicure. Naibor has a shop with a wide range of items and locally made crafts.
Activities
The main focus at Naibor is to drive out from camp daily to observe and photograph the extraordinary concentrations of wildlife. The Naibor vehicles are all 4x 4 wheel drive Toyota Land Cruisers, open sided with canvas tops. The Naibor driver/guides are all knowledgeable and professional, and have attained minimum guiding accreditation at the KPSGA Bronze level. A hot air balloon trip can be arranged for an early morning flight over the Maasai Mara.
Reviews
Anna Hearn (Staff)
Naibor is a super camp for those wishing to get away from the crowds in the Mara, set as it is on the southern plains and overlooking the Talek River which is usually fast flowing, but when we were there, just before the rains, was a series of pools interspersed with enormous boulders. The camp is set high on the bank overlooking the river meaning you can gameview from the main deck; elephants and plains game often come down to drink from the pools, especially as the weather becomes drier and hotter; lion and leopard have also been spotted. The camp itself is rustic and beautifully designed, with tented rooms ranged along the riverbank. India and Craig are wonderful hosts, and the guiding here is superb. For safari-weary muscles, a visit to Janet, the massage therapist, is a must.
Mr Charlie Gardner (Guest)
Naibor Camp in the Maasai Mara was absolutely magical and everything we'd hoped for. Amongst many other things our anniversary dinner down by the river (serenaded by the hippos) was unforgettable. Adam and Vicky who were managing the camp were brilliant, all the staff were just charming and the location by the river looking over a family of about thirty hippos couldn't have been better. Our driver/safari guide Davyd was an absolute star and thanks to him we got to see all the big five and more.
Camilla Whitworth (Guest)
Heaven on earth. The people were smiling and always happy. We were treated like royalty and saw the big five due to our fantastic guide. The hospitality was above and beyond and the food was delicious. The bush breakfasts were great and plentiful and the lunches were light with a lot of options.
