Shikoku broadly follows Japan’s climatic pattern with August being the hottest month and mid-winter cooling things right down in January, although the island is known for having milder weather year-round. Rainfall can be higher on Shikoku than other areas of the country. The spring months of March to May are good for hiking, as is the autumn, particularly October. These are the classic pilgrimage times and seasonal colours are at their best with cherry blossom in the spring and golden hues in the autumn.

Bay Resort is a modern seaside hotel in a prime location on Shodoshima Island. Benefiting from a range of outdoor leisure facilities, it also acts as a fantastic base for exploring.

The Bay Resort Hotel’s casual style makes it a relaxing place, where guests can enjoy a collection of outdoor leisure facilities, including outdoor spas and swimming pools. Located within a short drive of plentiful sightseeing options, such as the dramatic Kankakei Gorge and beautiful Olive Beach and Park, Bay Resort is an easy place to return to at the end of each day’s exploring.
Rooms are equipped with all modern amenities required for a comfortable stay, coupled with sweeping ocean of Kankakei Gorge views. Although all largely Japanese in style and design, guests have a choice between rooms with traditional Japanese mats and sleeping futons, or for a more international-style room featuring western beds.
The on-site outdoor spas provide different options for rejuvenating tired limbs, whether it’s in a private onsen overlooking the Seto Inland Sea or one of the hot tubs.  The large, outdoor summer swimming pool borders the ocean, and has forested mountains on one side, too. Dining options are relaxed. There’s a choice of a laid-back coffee in the C’est la Vie café, or a seafood lunch in the light and airy restaurant.
