Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – dry (between May to September) and wet (between October to April) – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Bali at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.

This hotel was one of the first on Jimbaran Bay and has rightly made a great name for itself, with a large strip of beach which is relatively quiet enjoy the breeze from the ocean as you sip a cocktail at Puri Bar or in Nelayan Restaurant as you tuck into the local catch of the day.

Jimbaran Puri is the perfect place to stay on arrival in Bali - it is close to airport and is wonderfully relaxed so you quickly ease into holiday mode. The Pool Villas are really spacious, private and have a great pool! The seafood at Nayalan Restaurant is fantastic - I highly recommend the yellow fin tuna carpaccio. The beach is lovely and quiet and it a great spot to watch sunset.

Belmond Jimbaran Puri is a great boutique beach hotel set amongst four acres of tropical gardens. It is a much smaller property compared to many other resorts in Jimbaran Bay and therefore has a lovely, intimate feel. As well as the beach itself, there is a beautiful swimming pool with a separate kids area which overlooks the sea, and two great restaurants. The cottages and villas here are spacious and nicely designed with teak wood furnishings, high-beamed ceilings and beautiful marbled floors.

This is a really understated but fantastic hotel on a gorgeous stretch of Jimbaran Bay. It is beautifully designed and offers super accommodation, either in a Suite or in a Pool Villa, which boast private swimming pools. For the suites, the beachfront is the best option as you are facing the sea and are just a short walk from the beach. For families with small children the Pool Villas work fantastically as they have a living room area that can be converted into a second bedroom, with a sliding door to separate it. It has a charming and intimate feel to it on a lovely and remarkably quiet stretch of beach. There are two restaurants to chose from and of course, the nearby beach shacks for an abundance of fresh seafood.

Belmond Jimbaran Puri is set right on Jimbaran Bay, and although looking onto Denpasar Airport with planes taking off and landing regularly, you cannot hear them, and the hotel emits a real sense of tranquillity. The resort resembles a traditional Balinese village, with villas and cottages set amongst the beautifully tropical gardens, with views of the bay. The pool villas are very spacious and you can even have a BBQ of up to 10 people in the comfort of your own garden. Enjoy a relaxing Balinese massage on a beach front bale in the resorts open air spa. During the evening, I would recommend wandering down the beach, and trying one of the many seafood restaurants.

Olivia Smith (Staff)

Belmond Jimbaran Puri is a really sweet, great value hotel, which feels very peaceful on a beautiful beachfront setting on Jimbaran Bay. Jimbaran Bay has got one of the best beaches on the southern part of the island, there are lots of great beachfront restaurants right on the sand and you can get an excellent seafood meal there for only a few pounds. The accommodation at Belmond Jimbaran Puri is traditionally Balinese, with thatched roofs and airy, open rooms, all with lovely linens and great design touches. The newer villas are superb, with great private pools and are really secluded. Whilst I loved the property and its beachfront location and relaxed atmosphere, as it is so close to the airport, you can see the runway sticking out into the sea from here. You don't always hear the planes but you can see them. Having said that, it didn't bother me too much and it still remains a great value option on a lovely beach in Bali.
