Home to other-worldly landscapes, breathtaking scenery and thrilling adventures, Iceland is a delight to explore during the summer months. Long days blend into nights as the Midnight Sun shines across the country, allowing for ample time to discover the very best that Iceland has to offer.

  1. Fly to Reykjavik

  2. Days 1-3: Reykjavik

Arriving in Reykjavik, you’ll spend your first couple of days in Iceland getting to know this charming city and its surroundings. From your base at the heart of Reykjavik, explore the city with your private guide and discover its picturesque colourful streets, unique architecture and bustling atmosphere.

After getting your bearings in Reykjavik, spend the following day with your private guide exploring the sights of the nearby Reykjanes peninsula. Located on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, this rugged area is rich in volcanic activity and here you’ll be able to witness the lava fields and bubbling mud pools of the Krysuvik Geothermal Area. You’ll also have the opportunity to head deep underground as you descend into the magma chamber of the dormant Thrihnukagigur volcano. This unique experience lets you see the inside of the volcano in this chamber which was once filled with fiery magma.

    Accommodation: Apotek Hotel (2 nights)

  3. Days 3-4: Snaefellsnes and western Iceland

Leaving the city behind, the next day you’ll get off-the-beaten-track and head north to the undiscovered Snaefellsnes peninsula. This beautiful region boasts some of Iceland’s most stunning scenery and the dramatic coastline is home to charming fishing villages and black sand beaches.

Your private guide will lead you to some of Snaefellsnes’s most breathtaking sights along the south coast, including the basalt columns and unique geological formations at Arnarstapi. Visit the black sand beaches of Dritvik and Djúpalónssandur and take in the views across the Atlantic Ocean before spending the night at Hotel Budir, a boutique hotel perched on this striking coastline.

    Accommodation: Hotel Budir (1 night)

  4. Days 4-7: Southern Iceland, Iceland

The following day, explore the northern coast of the Snaefellsnes peninsula, visiting picturesque fishing villages such as Grundarfjordur with your private guide. Enjoy stunning views of Snaefellsjokull National Park, home to the Snafellsjokull glacier, and admire the truly unique Kirkjufell mountain before making your way south to the remote Hotel Grimsborgir, where you’ll spend three nights.

Next, it’s time to discover some of Iceland’s most iconic sights as you travel around the famed Golden Circle. Admire the rugged scenery of Thingvellir National Park, where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet, and get up close to the thundering cascades of the Gullfoss waterfall. The final stop on the Golden Circle is Geysir, where Iceland’s geysers shoot up from the ground in an impressive display.

The next day your private guide will take you to Thorsmork, which translates to the Valley of Thor. This spectacular nature reserve, nestled between three of Iceland’s glaciers, is known for its hiking trails and incredible scenery. Admire the beautiful views of this truly breathtaking valley where dramatic mountains and glaciers meet.

    Accommodation: Hotel Grimsborgir (3 nights)

  5. Days 7-8: Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Leave Hotel Grimsborgir behind and make your way east, stopping to explore some of the highlights of Iceland’s south coast. Your private guide will introduce you to Iceland’s impressive waterfalls, black sand beaches and unique geological features. Walk behind the cascade at Seljalandsfoss, admire the towering heights of Skogafoss waterfall and stroll along the dramatic beach at Vik.

Relax and spend the night at the Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon before you have the chance to discover one of Iceland’s most spectacular sights, Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. Bright blue icebergs break off from the glacier, Vatnajökull, and float across the crystal-clear surface of the lagoon before washing up on nearby black sands, creating the breathtaking landscape of the Diamond Beach. Explore with your private guide and take in the unforgettable views before you return to Reykjavik.

Accommodation: Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon (1 night)

  6. Days 8-9: Reykjavik

Spend your last evening in Reykjavik, discovering some of the city’s buzzing bars and world-class restaurants. On your final morning, you’ll be taken to the iconic Blue Lagoon to rest your adventure-weary muscles and unwind in the health-giving blue waters.

    Accommodation: Apotek Hotel (1 night)
