Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The climate in Greece is warm and sunny for the majority of the year, however the island properties are closed from around October to April. From April/May onwards the weather settles but it can sometimes be cool in the evenings. By mid/end of May, the islands come to life and weather generally settles in a pattern of long hot sunny days and balmy evenings especially in July and August when it can be very hot. Rain is unlikely but it can happen from time to time. May to September are particularly pleasurable months with July and August being particularly popular on the islands.

Itinerary

Discover ancient history, fascinating culture and picturesque scenery on a journey through Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. From awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Sites to spectacular island sunsets, you’ll get under the skin of Greece as you explore this beautiful country.

  1. Fly to Athens

  2. Days 1-5: Athens, Greece

Begin your journey in Athens, the ancient heart of Greece and birthplace of western civilisation. This fascinating city combines contemporary architecture with ancient Greek sites, creating a truly unique metropolis.

You’ll spend four nights in Athens, giving you ample time to explore the city and its surroundings. Join your private guide to learn about one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the Acropolis, and get up close to its plethora of temples. Discover the history of the Theatre of Dionysus Eleuthereus and admire the famed Parthenon, which towers over the city. You’ll also enjoy a walking tour of some of Athens’ more picturesque neighbourhoods, including beautiful Plaka, thought to be one of the city’s oldest districts. Visit the unique Anafiotika, where you’ll discover a unique collection of whitewashed houses, typical of the Cycladic Islands.

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and spend a day travelling north to Delphi, thought to be the centre of the world in Ancient Greek mythology. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Delphi was also home to Pythia, one of Greece’s most important oracles, who made prophecies in the Temple of Apollo. Discover the fascinating history of this unique site before leaving the mainland behind.

Accommodation: Hotel Grande Bretagne (4 nights)

  3. Days 5-7: Mykonos

Fly south to Mykonos, your first stop in the beautiful Cyclades Islands. Home to pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters and whitewashed towns, Mykonos is known for its beach clubs and its glamorous nightlife.

Spend two nights on Mykonos, exploring the island’s wealth of beaches and the picturesque streets of Mykonos Town. Explore the maze of charming whitewashed buildings and enjoy Mykonos’s fantastic culinary scene in the town’s bars and restaurants. Those looking to continue learning about Greece’s fascinating culture can also visit the nearby island of Delos, one of Greece’s most important archaeological sites. This ancient island was thought to be the birthplace of gods Apollo and Artemis, and is a legendary site in Ancient Greek mythology.

Accommodation: Petasos Beach Resort (2 nights)

  4. Days 7-9: Santorini

Your final stop will be Santorini, possibly the most renowned of Greece’s islands thanks to its picturesque towns, stunning caldera and incredible sunsets. Spend two nights on this beautiful island, where you’ll be able to unwind in style for the final few days of your trip.

You’ll have the chance to explore Santorini’s clifftop towns such as Oia, perched on the northern tip of the island. This charming town boasts whitewashed cobbled streets and the iconic blue-domed churches that Santorini is famed for. For a truly special end to your trip, you could take a private boat across the caldera and relax on board, watching vibrant colours light up the sky as the sun dips below Oia.
