The climate in Greece is warm and sunny for the majority of the year. By mid/end of May, the weather generally settles in a pattern of long hot sunny days and balmy evenings especially in July and August when it can be very hot. A restored tower dating back to the 19th century, Tainaron Blue offers a real escape in the hills of the Mani Peninsula in the southern Peloponnese. With just three rooms, here you'll find peace, privacy and incredible views.
Located on the southern tip of the Peloponnese's Mani Peninsula, Tainaron Blue is a real hilltop hideaway and its tranquil atmosphere allows every guest to truly get away from it all. Tainaron Blue is housed in a 19th century tower typical of the Mani region, which has been completely restored to add modern amenities while keeping to the original structure and architectural style.
Tainaron Blue is home to just three rooms, each of which showcases original features such as the exposed stone walls. The rooms are all packed with history and character, offering views across the Ionian Sea or of the surrounding mountains. The Master Suite, located at the top of the tower, has its own private balcony which is the perfect place to sit back and soak up the views.
Outside, the infinity pool is one of Tainaron Blue's highlights. Offering breathtaking views across the water and the southernmost point of the Mani Peninsula, the pool is simply an incredible place to relax and unwind. The terrace has several tables and loungers offering both sun and shade, hidden between the olive trees. Meals are also taken here, or up on the charming veranda, where guests can sample a variety of dishes typical of the Mani region. Using local produce from the Peloponnese, the chef puts a contemporary twist on traditional recipes that are best enjoyed alongside the superb views. Topped off with a menu of local wines, dining at Tainaron Blue offers a taste of authentic Greek cuisine.
Although tempting to simply lie by the pool for the entirety of your stay, Tainaron Blue is perfectly located for exploring the beautiful Mani Peninsula. The landscape is peppered with around 800 similar ancient stone towers as well as Byzantine churches, and there are several paths offering scenic hiking along the coast.
The three rooms at Tainaron Blue have seamlessly incorporated the original features of the ancient tower, while adding contemporary touches for comfort. Exposed stone walls and wooden furnishings give each room plenty of character and a welcoming atmosphere. Each room has a mini-bar, Nespresso machine, bathrobe and slippers, while bathrooms provide ecological amenities.
|Executive Double Room||
Measuring 18 sqm, the Executive Double Room is charming and comfortable, offering a view across the infinity pool to the Ionian Sea. The bathroom is a wet-room with a shower.
For larger groups, this room can interconnect with the adjoining Junior Suite.
Split over two levels, the Junior Suite can sleep up to three guests, with a single bed built into the original stone wall. On the upper level, the main bedroom area offers mountain views. The bathroom offers a glass shower cabin and the room measures a total of 22 sqm.
The Master Suite measures 25 sqm and is split over two floors and sleeps up to four guests. The lower level houses the main bedroom area and bathroom, while climbing a ladder to the loft takes you to the second bed. The bathroom has a bathtub and the room offers fantastic sea views.
Please note the Master Suite is accessed by a steep ladder.
Children over the age of 12 are welcome at Tainaron Blue.
With a focus on homemade, authentic meals, the chef at Tainaron Blue serves up a variety of dishes typical of the Mani region. Using local produce and ingredients, these traditional recipes are given a contemporary twist and are enjoyed on the pool-side patio or on the veranda, accompanied by fantastic sea views.
The Mani Peninsula is a beautiful region and well worth exploring. The picturesque village of Vathia is close to Tainaron Blue, and there are many paths for hiking along the stunning coastline. The incredible Diros Caves are also nearby, while further afield ancient sites such as Mystras and Messene are ideal for a day trip.

Tainaron Blue is located close to Cape Tainaron, the southernmost tip of the Mani Peninsula in the Peloponnese.
How to get there
There are direct flights from London Heathrow to Kalamata with British Airways or regular flights with EasyJet to Kalamata from London Gatwick. Flights take approximately 3.5 hours and from here it is a two-and-a-half hour road transfer to Tainaron Blue. Alternatively, it is a four-hour drive from Athens Airport.
