Amongst the tracts of virgin forest and densely jungled foothills of the Arenal volcano lies Amor Arenal, a collection of luxurious jungle cabins overlooking the distant peak of the volcano and the surrounding forest terrain.
31 luxury lodgings are spread throughout the jungle, with wraparound wooden balconies and floor-to-ceiling glass designed to make the most of the views. Hardwood floors and natural materials emphasise the hotel’s connection with nature, with stone walls and thermally heated plunge pools a constant reminder of the proximity to the mighty Arenal volcano. King sized beds with high thread count linens, vast bathrooms with rainforest showers and jungle views make these cabins the ultimate jungle sanctuary, with air conditioning, WIFI and luxurious amenities ensuring a truly relaxing and restful stay.
Amor Arenal’s main restaurant, El Rancho, focuses on the ‘farm to table’ philosophy of using locally sourced, organic produce that changes seasonally to create delicious, dynamic menus throughout the day. La Jaranita is the hotel’s tapas bar, offering lighter bites, cocktails and live music after a long day relaxing in the jungle surrounds. The jungle spa is the place to visit to truly connect and commune with nature, with a host of pampering treatments available in the thatched forest cabins. The neighbouring fitness centre is fully equipped with cardio equipment and weights should the need for a jungle workout arise; whilst the hot spring and mineral fed swimming pools provide the ultimate place to relax, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the forest.
Meandering through the virgin forest canyon are a host of hiking trails just waiting to be explored, with maps and guides available to take you through the forest in search of thermal pools and waterfalls. To venture further afield, horse riding expeditions start at Amor Arenal and strike out into the canyon and across the foothills of the volcano, perhaps stopping en-route for a picnic or a swim. Further afield there are many jungle adventures on offer. From canyoning to ziplining, all originate in the vibrant town of La Fortuna, just a short drive from Amor Arenal.
