Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

This is a year-round itinerary, but July to January is the best time of year. If travelling over Christmas/New Year or over Carnival, be sure to book as far in advance as possible, as space at this time is severely restricted. April to July is the wettest season (though it can rain at any time) and June to September bring slightly cooler evenings.

Itinerary

Discover the highlights of northeast Brazil from the colonial splendours of Salvador to the golden sands of Bahia's beaches. Soak in samba beats and cultural delights, as well as iconic sights such as Christ the Redeemer for the ultimate family holiday.

  1. Fly to Rio de Janeiro

  2. Days 1-4: Rio de Janeiro

This family adventure to Brazil begins in the iconic beachfront city of Rio de Janeiro, with a wealth of attractions ensuring that families have plenty of entertainment. Make like James Bond and take the cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain, pay a visit to Christ the Redeemer and observe a local football match on the sands of Copacabana Beach. We have included a city tour to soak in all of the city’s main sights, and a guided hike up Two-Brother’s Hill for incredible views over the city.

    Accommodation: Fairmont Copacabana (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-7: Salvador

From here, fly north to the wonderful colonial city of Salvador, the capital of Bahia and home to gorgeous cobbled streets and churches, great food, capoeira and sizzling music. Enjoy three nights here in the heart of the old town, getting under the skin of this charming and vibrant region. Meet a local musician and learn how to play a variety of beats with a percussion workshop, and give capoeira a go, the local martial art.

    Accommodation: Villa Bahia (3 nights)

  4. Days 7-11: Trancoso

Finally, fly to Porto Seguro and head straight for Trancoso, a charming hippie chic beach town which is home to some fantastic stretches of sand, Ibiza style lounges and beautiful beaches. Here you can simply relax on the beaches or by the pool, or alternatively try some surfing lessons or an ATV adventure along the sand. Villas de Trancoso offer activities such as surfing, cycling, horseback riding, kayaking through pristine Brazilian rainforest, tennis, golf, and snorkelling in the crystal clear waters of the ocean. If you can tear yourself away from the palm groves and beautifully landscaped tropical gardens one can easily stroll into the charming main square of Trancoso known as the ‘Quadrado’ with its laid-back open air restaurants and funky boutiques. Ease into your Bahian idyll thanks to the tranquil atmosphere which makes the villas an ideal choice for couples looking to escape as well as offering superb two bedroom villas which work really well for families.
