The main summer season is from December-February and the quietest time of the year is the Aussie winter June-August. The capital of South Australia, Adelaide plays host to many international sporting events as well as fashion weeks and international conferences, so it is always a good idea to book in advance and check to find out what is happening in the city when you are looking to book.

  1. Days 1-3: Barossa Valley

Collect your car hire and begin your holiday in one of Australia’s premium wine- producing regions, The Barossa Valley. Home to over 150 wineries and over 80 cellar doors, The Barossa Valley has consistently produced some of the world’s favourite wine for over 150 years. With gastronomic delights around every corner, here you can tour the Barossa’s multiple vineyards and picturesque villages by bike, as part of a guided tour or even by helicopter.

    Accommodation: The Louise (2 nights)

  2. Days 3-6: Flinders Ranges

Next, make your way north to the wide expanses of the outback in the remote Flinders Ranges. Explore the spectacular scenery with a picturesque flight over the vast outback, spend a day with an indigenous guide learning about the ancient Aboriginal culture of the area or simply marvel at the myriad of local wildlife, including Red and Grey Kangaroos, Rock Wallabies, Emus and many different species of birds.

    Accommodation: Arkaba (3 nights)

  3. Days 6-7: Adelaide

For a different perspective we would suggest stopping off en route from the Flinders Ranges to enjoy the scenic Adelaide Hills where you will discover villages specialising in a huge array of food and “New World” wines.

Accommodation: Mount Lofty House (1 night)

  4. Days 7-10: Kangaroo Island

Alternatively visit Flinders Chase National Park on the island’s west coast. A haven for wildlife and hiking, you can also see the famous Remarkable Rocks – a collection of enormous boulders carved into unusual shapes by millions of years of weathering.

Kangaroo Island as a relatively untouched destination also offers visitors some sensational food and wine.
