Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Tasmania has a temperate climate with 4 distinct seasons. Warm summer days from December to February and sometimes snow in the cooler months of June to September. The best time to visit Tasmania is between October and April, when the weather is at its best. By May, nights are getting cold and days are getting shorter. Winters (June-Aug), especially in the high country, can be quite harsh- though that's the best time to curl up in front of a blazing fire.

Nestled on the banks of the tranquil Derwent River on the outskirts of Hobart, the cutting-edge MONA Pavilions is a contemporary art hotel, affiliated with Tasmania’s famous Museum of Old and New Art.

Perched on a private peninsula across the water from Tasmania’s capital city, Mona Pavilions are a unique collection of 8 private dwellings overlooking the Derwent River and an undulating vineyard that produces the property’s very own vintage. Each entirely distinct in design and decor, with some cantilevered over the river itself, the modern pavilions are hewn from glass and steel, with stunning panoramic views and their own individually curated art collections.

Each named after an eminent Australian artist or architect, the pavilions are modern, spacious and ultra-stylish. The eight dwellings are free-standing and private, with shaded balconies offering stunning views and their own individual wine cellars, along with a staggering collection of art and antiquities. Fully equipped kitchens and airy living spaces make the pavilions feel like a home from home, albeit an avant-garde home with works by Brett Whiteley or Sir Sidney Nolan hanging on the wall. Bathrooms are contemporary and luxurious, complete with Aesop products and fluffy bathrobes, whilst wireless touch panels and Airplay make the pavilions a modern and functional space to reside. Breakfast is included at MONA’s trendy restaurant, The Source, where delicious local Tasmanian produce is served with style and flair. Food is served throughout the day, with people flocking from afar to sample the delicious dinner menu available from Wednesday to Saturday. Guests also have access to the hotel’s own vineyard and microbrewery, along with a private indoor heated lap pool and sauna that lies next to the hotel’s gym and fitness centre.
