Days 1-4: Boston
Start your New England family holiday in Boston. Adults and children alike will love exploring on the Duck tours which take place on amphibious World War II vehicles, hiring mini-speedboats to explore the harbour, or cheering on the Boston Red Sox at a baseball game- which we have included for you. Explore the upscale shopping on Newbury Street and cafés of Back Bay, the historic waterfront, the theatre district and the Italian North End. We have also included a fun filled family bike tour where you can explore the cities many neighbourhoods with an expert and entertaining guide. The Concierge is always close at hand to make reservations for a family dinner, offer suggestions for tomorrow's outing, or help arrange a babysitter.
Accommodation: Four Seasons Hotel Boston (3 nights)
-
Days 4-7: Maine
From Boston, pick up your hire car and drive north to Maine, stopping for some sorcery and superstition, ghouls and witches in Salem. Maine conjures up images of sweeping beaches, pretty lighthouses and fresh crab and lobster shacks, the town of Olgunquit is no exception to this. Days are spent cycling to coves to try your hand at surfing, hiking around nature trails, chowing down on fresh sea food at local lobster shacks and ending each day with some quality family time toasting marshmallow s'mores on the open camp fire.
Accommodation: Cliff House (3 nights)
-
Days 7-10: Cape Cod
Take your hire car and drive south to the popular coastal peninsula of Cape Cod. This area is renowned for its quaint fishing villages, genteel towns and ample beaches. Your children can join a selection of children’s programmes such as bake offs, kite flying, sea-fari’s and scavenger hunts whilst you relax on the beach or by the pool. During family time you can enjoy beach front food or maybe even go on a cruise to see the native harbour seals basking in the sunshine.
Accommodation: Chatham Bars Inn (3 nights)
-
Days 10-14: Nantucket
Next stop Nantucket, simply drop your hire car and take the passenger ferry over the Atlantic where porters will be ready to greet you off the jetty. With its picture postcard main town of cobbled streets and handsome historic homes, glorious beaches, fascinating whaling history (one that inspired Moby Dick no less) and lack of chain stores, Nantucket has long been the destination for the quintessential New England experience. There are more than 80 miles of un-crowded, pristine sandy beaches on Nantucket Island. Simply enjoy combing for seashells and other treasures, ask the hotel to pack you up a picnic or try your hand at boogie boarding, windsurfing or kayaking. We have included a one hour “Critter Cruise” where you and your children can try your hand at crabbing, assist with picking up lobster traps and learn more about the marine life surrounding the island.
Homeward bound, it is a short 45-minute flight to Boston International, and a direct connection onward to London.
