Florida is a year-round destination with balmy winters, but summers can be hot and humid. The best time to visit Florida is in March and April when it is warm and sunny, before the weather begins to get too hot. Hurricanes and other less serious tropical storms can strike Florida any time in the summer up to the end of November, however the risk is greatest between August and October.

The Waldorf Astoria Orlando provides an ideal choice for families wanting a luxurious base close to the theme parks yet far enough away for you to escape the Disney magic for a few hours at the end of the day
For those who need to be close to Disney yet not enveloped in it 24 hours a day, the Waldorf Astoria is a great choice.
Set within the much coveted Disney perimeters, guests can enjoy just a 5 minute journey into and out of the parks each day with the hotels complimentary shuttle bus.
When the parks are done, guests can be sure they are returning to an envelopment of warm welcomes, superb service, fine accommodation and some very fine dining yet without any cartoon characters in site.
The Waldorf Astoria offers superb amenities from the relaxing Sir Harry’s Lounge and bar complete with relaxing piano music through to the stunningly set swimming pools which afford wonderful sunset views and offer private cabanas for guest use during the day and warming fire pits to sit around during the chillier evenings.
If you like to be pampered, the Waldorf Astoria Spa offers no less than 24 treatment rooms, a beauty salon and indulgent Carita Spa products. The extensive fitness centre is essential to work off those indulgences in the hotel’s fine dining establishments.
Bull & Bear offers some of the best steak in Orlando and Oscar’s is home to the original Waldorf Salad. With more relaxed dining at Peacock Alley and Acquamarine there is something for everyone. The Hilton Orlando is also right next door and guests at the Waldorf Astoria can enjoy their dining too. The Italian La Luce restaurant is home to one of the most famous desserts in this area. Butterscotch Dessert even has it’s own Facebook page.
Waldorf Astoria is family friendly too and the WA Kids activity centre is available for children aged 3-12 years of age. Families will love the “lazy river” at neighbouring Hilton Orlando as well as the weekend “dive in” Disney movies at the poolside.
498 rooms including 171 suites make this one of the smaller hotels in the Disney area.
One bedroom and two bedroom suites are ideal for families.
All rooms feature premium bath amenities, separate bath and shower cubicle, Waldorf Astoria signature bedding collection, plush terry bathrobes and slippers, secured wireless internet access (daily charge), HD 42 inch TV and twice daily housekeeping and turndown service.
The Waldorf Astoria is very family friendly and offers excellent accommodation for families travelling together.
There is a children’s club which caters for children from ages 5-12. Charges apply for each session. Sessions are 10.30 to 2.30pm daily or in the evenings from 6pm.
Babysitting is available on request.
The Waldorf Astoria is located next door to the Hilton Orlando and guests at the hotel are able to use the facilities of both hotels.
Choice of 6 different dining options at Waldorf Astoria and more at neighbouring Hilton Orlando. Bull & Bear for fine dining and steak, Oscar’s, Peacock Alley, Acquamarine and the Clubhouse Grille on the golf course.
Two swimming pools (one with a lazy river) and poolside cabanas at additional charge, Waldorf Astoria spa, large fitness centre (charge applies) Rees Jones designed 18 hole golf course, jogging trails, 24 hour concierge, in room dining, WA Kids Club, complimentary WiFi in lounge and lobby areas
Ben Peters (Staff)
The Waldorf Astoria Orlando is perfect for guests wanting to explore Disney whilst having a base to come back to that is a more peaceful than a Disney Hotel. The zero entry pool is very popular for kids with daily poolside activities, whilst the relaxing cabana pool is perfect for adults wanting to enjoy the sun or unwind reading a book. Guests are able to utilise the Hilton facilities next door, including a variety of restaurants, a lazy river and a kids only waterslide. The brilliant Bull and Bear Steakhouse is a favourite for guests staying there and this will need to be reserved beforehand. The Waldorf can feel big from the outside but I was impressed with the personable service and size of the rooms inside, particularly the golf course view.
