The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is one of the finest oceanfront hotels on the East Coast, nestled between glistening marshland and the Atlantic Ocean. Driving from the mainland over to Kiawah takes you back to a simpler time, and as you pass beneath ancient trees graced with beards of Spanish moss you know you have arrived somewhere special. Enter the lobby and you will experience a grand seaside mansion, surrounded by carefully considered architecture that uses local brick, stone, wood and metalwork. Offering fine southern hospitality, the service here is unparalleled.
The apartments and private homes are dotted around the island, creating a village atmosphere. Some are home to residents who live on the island permanently, but many are rented out through the resort. Apartments are a great option for smaller families who perhaps want to overlook the lagoon, whereas private homes are more lavish and suit larger families. Each self catering accommodation varies in style and size as each is individually owned, but with a comprehensive tier system, you can be sure we can match you with your perfect hideaway.

The Sanctuary is just one part of this island experience. Kiawah Island is a community in itself with beautiful homes nestled into the forests of oak trees strewn with the Souths iconic Spanish moss. Many people live here full time in this gorgeous community in an idyllic location between the beaches of the Atlantic ocean and the waterways to the West. Within these communities lies the Sanctuary hotel. An elegant and refined guest experience offering 5 star service, beautiful furnishings and a wealth of facilities from fine restaurants through to a spa, pool and even access to up to 4 golf courses that are dotted throughout the island. Its no surprise that many guests come here just for the golf, its going to be the location for the 2021 PGA Tour so its certainly on any players hit list. It has so much more though for couples and families alike. Laid out as a community there is everything from a football pitch to nature centre, bike trails all around the island and water sports on the calm inland waterways. The beach is long and dedicated to island guests. Whilst the sea isnt the crystal clear blue that you will find South in Florida, its still a popular spot for children to play in the waves, especially during the heat of the summer. The best part of Kiawah is its choices though. Either stay in the hotel where everything is on hand, or if you dont mind being a little more independent, choose from one of the many condo style villas on the island that look over the beach or lagoons. For the ultimate in luxury, take one of the elite private homes, some of which come complete with private pools and views over the golf course. Perfect for larger families and longer stays, they are stunningly appointed with that absolute wow factor, a home from home of your dreams.Kiawah Island may not be an intimate hotel, however, there are endless possibilities for a family holiday with so much on hand but no compromise on luxury.
