Description

Hidden amongst majestic live Oak Trees, Kiawah Island Golf Resort offers sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. Best for a beach or golf retreat, families will love exploring the island, be it on dry land or out on the water under the Carolina sunshine.

Comprised of three accommodation types, Kiawah Island Golf Resort is home to a fabulous hotel, The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, a number of apartments and a selection of luxurious private homes. Guests staying in the condos or private homes have full use of hotel facilities, the difference simply lies between whether you wish to stay in a fully serviced hotel or a self-catering home.

The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is one of the finest oceanfront hotels on the East Coast, nestled between glistening marshland and the Atlantic Ocean. Driving from the mainland over to Kiawah takes you back to a simpler time, and as you pass beneath ancient trees graced with beards of Spanish moss you know you have arrived somewhere special. Enter the lobby and you will experience a grand seaside mansion, surrounded by carefully considered architecture that uses local brick, stone, wood and metalwork. Offering fine southern hospitality, the service here is unparalleled.

The apartments and private homes are dotted around the island, creating a village atmosphere. Some are home to residents who live on the island permanently, but many are rented out through the resort. Apartments are a great option for smaller families who perhaps want to overlook the lagoon, whereas private homes are more lavish and suit larger families. Each self catering accommodation varies in style and size as each is individually owned, but with a comprehensive tier system, you can be sure we can match you with your perfect hideaway.

Kiawah Island Golf Resort is a superb place for a family vacation. This beautiful island is a magnet for golf enthusiasts from around the world, with the PGA championships being held here in 2020 at the exquisite Ocean Course. The island has also been ranked the top tennis facility in the U.S. by Tennis Magazine and has 28 tennis courts. Whilst you're not perfecting your swing on the grass, you can be out on the water enjoying paddle-boarding, fishing tours or motorboat excursions to spot dolphins offshore. This is a nature lovers haven, and guests can discover all that makes Kiawah a paradise for wildlife on sunset beach nature walks, at the Heron Park Nature Center or on the Junior Naturalist Programme.

Few things rejuvenate the mind and body more than a massage at the Sanctuary's luxurious Spa, and this is the perfect way to round off a day of adventure and exploration. Once you have been sufficiently pampered, spend your evenings at one of the hotels many restaurants, or cycle into the picturesque village of Freshfields, where you can find independent restaurants, a fully stocked supermarket, high-end stores and ice-cream parlours.

The Sanctuary is just one part of this island experience. Kiawah Island is a community in itself with beautiful homes nestled into the forests of oak trees strewn with the Souths iconic Spanish moss.  Many people live here full time in this gorgeous community in an idyllic location between the beaches of the Atlantic ocean and the waterways to the West.  Within these communities lies the Sanctuary hotel. An elegant and refined guest experience offering 5 star service, beautiful furnishings and a wealth of facilities from fine restaurants through to a spa, pool and even access to up to 4 golf courses that are dotted throughout the island.  Its no surprise that many guests come here just for the golf, its going to be the location for the 2021 PGA Tour so its certainly on any players hit list.  It has so much more though for couples and families alike.  Laid out as a community there is everything from a football pitch to nature center, bike trails all around the island and water sports on the calm inland waterways.  The beach is long and dedicated to island guests.  Whilst the sea isnt the crystal clear blue that you will find South in Florida, its still a popular spot for children to play in the waves, especially during the heat of the summer. The best part of Kiawah is its choices though.  Either stay in the hotel where everything is on hand, or if you dont mind being a little more independent, choose from one of the many condo style villas on the island that look over the beach or lagoons.  For the ultimate in luxury, take one of the elite private homes, some of which come complete with private pools and views over the golf course. Perfect for larger families and longer stays, they are stunningly appointed with that absolute wow factor, a home from home of your dreams.Kiawah Island may not be an intimate hotel, however, there are endless possibilities for a family vacation with so much on hand but no compromise on luxury.

A first-class resort set amongst four world renowned golf courses.   The Sanctuary itself is beautifully appointed with historic touches, although the hotel is large the staff are friendly, and the rooms feel homely. The resort is a great choice for families with lots of great activities run daily including archery, kayaking, dolphin encounters and fishing charters.  For larger families the private homes dotted around the grounds provide the perfect retreat, they are finished to an exceptional standard and provide and abundance of space and facilities, many with their own pools, guests staying in the private homes can also enjoy the many dining options the resort has to offer or include a private chef if self-catering does not appeal.
