Drive to Xigatze to visit the remarkable Tashilungpo Monastery, seat of Panchen Lama who is second in order to Dalai Lama. Explore the treasures within the monastery such as the huge Future Buddha Statue, Buddha Stupas and various beautiful murals.
For the adventurous, you may wish to rise early for a morning 45 minute hike to the top of the 14th century fort Gyantze Dzong and enjoy the staggering panoramic views of Gyantse's rustic old town with its whitewashed buildings along with the views of Palcho Monastery.
