Nanjing Highlights

The Purple Mountain area calls home to some of the most quintessential historical sites in Nanjing. Here, we will visit the Mausoleum of Sun Yat Sen (the Father of Modern China) and Ming Xialing (founder of the Ming Dynasty).
Afterwards, we continue to the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, known for its double-deck construction which was built between 1960 and 1968 and is enlisted in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest bridge in the world functioning both as a highway and a railway. A marvelous feat of engineering, the bridge is also the first to be solely designed and constructed by the Chinese.
We continue to Zhong Hua Gate (or the Gate of China), which forms the defensive complex of the Nanjing city wall, which was built from 1360 to 1386 by Hongwu Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang which eventually made Nanjing his capital circa the Ming dynasty. The next stop is the heart-wrenching Memorial Hall to the Victims in the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders.
The trip concludes at the Confucius Temple area, where you will see the venue for the medieval Imperial Examination and you can spend some time to explore the refurbished old city with shops and restaurants.
