Black Necked Crane Festival

During the winter months, approximately 600 black-necked cranes migrate from the Tibetan plateau into Bhutan, mostly of which settles in the Phobjikha valley. The annual arrival of these cranes hold tremendous significance to the local villagers as they are believed to be the deities and protectors of the valley.
The black-necked crane festival is held annually in Phobjikha on November 11th.
