Insider's View

I loved the Sala Pool Villas. The outdoor bathrooms are really funky and the private pools are huge!

The atmosphere at the Sala Phuket is so relaxed, you can really chill out and enjoy the stunning surroundings.

Choose a Sala Pool Villa with a huge private pool and a beautiful open air bathroom

Has a very casual almost Mediterranean feel without lacking in luxury.

Enjoy their signature cocktail at their inviting bar where you can chat to the staff as this area also doubles up as concierge.

As you first walk into the pool villas you wont help but be amazed and awed at the large pool and outdoor bathrooms. Before you settle in you are welcomed to choose which pillow you would like, your body lotion scent and soap flavour which is a very thoughtful touch.

Borrow a bike and explore the area with local beaches and nearby restaurants and food stalls

To start planning your holiday to SALA Phuket Mai Khao Beach Resort

The Sala Phuket is a stunning boutique property with contemporary styled rooms and a laid back atmosphere, set on the lovely Mai Khao beach, which is in a beautiful National Park on Phuket's northern coast.

The Sala Phuket is a fabulous luxury hotel which has stylishly designed rooms, a great atmosphere and fantastic attention to detail. Set on the pristine north western coast of Phuket, well away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, the Sala Phuket is the perfect place to get away from it all, while still being only a 20-minute drive from the airport. The hotel is located on a protected beach that is ideal for long scenic walks but it does mean that sunbeds are not allowed.

Each villa at the Sala Phuket has a fantastic outdoor bathroom, large private pool and contemporary style décor within a walled courtyard for ultimate privacy, perfect for lounging with a book and cool drink.

The small spa complete with shore side massage rooms, two beachfront swimming pools and the delicious restaurant all add to this gorgeous boutique property’s winning formula. There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area both on land and at sea, but the location of the hotel means that it is quiet enough to simply kick back and enjoy an indulgent beach holiday.

The Sala's 16 Deluxe Balcony Rooms are on the first floor and have balconies with a full size outdoor daybed and an outdoor bathroom with a curtain for privacy. The 63 Villas and Villa Suites all have private swimming pools and open air bathrooms. The Sala Pool Villas are entered through a private gateway and both the bedroom and open air bathroom face onto the pool area with sun loungers. The Villa Suites have the addition of a large living area and some are spread over two floors. All rooms have a serene, light, contemporary décor. High speed internet access is available in every room and throughout the resort.

Children are very welcome to come and stay at The Sala Phuket however the hotel is more designed for couples. However, there is a small separated section in one of the pools which is shallow enough for young ones. There is also a babysitting service available.

The Sala Phuket's beachfront restaurant serves international cuisine, fresh seafood and Thai favourites, all with a variety of venues for you to chose from such as on the beach, by the pool and even on the rooftop. There is also a beach bar and lobby bar, two beachfront pools; one being 30 metres long, library, harmonious Sala Spa, gym and boutique shop. For those who would like to explore further either on land or on water there are complimentary sea kayaks available for most of the year, mountain bikes and pre-tested experiences. If you would like a relaxing evening in front of a movie then there is a cinema set up with comfy chairs for you to relax into and a popcorn machine to get warm snacks from.

The Sala Phuket can arrange plenty of excursions and activities for those wanting to play golf, go diving on the local Similian Islands, mountain biking, island hopping, cultural tours around Phuket or a wander around Ma Khao area, which has an abundance of shops and restaurants.

The first thing that I noticed about Sala Phuket was the modern decor, the hotel was designed to create an air of serenity and calm complimented by its natural surroundings. As I walked into my pool villa I was amazed at how much space there was, the pool was large and the outdoor bathroom was very sophisticated with a large stone bath where you could soak away the stresses of every day life. Sala Phuket seems to ooze serenity and calm, this was evident from the spa which was misty and therefore inevitably mystical. I would highly recommend a signature massage as soon as you arrive so that you can really settle right into your holiday from the beginning.

The service was very thoughtful and personal, though only one dining room there are options of in villa dining, a picnic on the beach or even rooftop dining which gives you even better views out to sea. On arrival as I was enjoying wandering round my villa a member of staff asked me to choose from a selection which type of pillow I wanted, the scent of hand cream and the flavour of soap which was then put into my villa for the duration of my stay; a really nice touch.

I surprisingly really quite liked Sala Phuket, it had a very casual yet intimate feel to it. The wooden grey style that is evident throughout the resort works really well to give it a modern almost Mediterranean feel. Pool villas are very private and have a large pool, big enough to do some laps in. Outdoor bathrooms are aesthetically very pleasing although some may have issues with the warmth and the bugs, but it didnt bother me, in fact showering outside was rather lovely. Food was really good although the menu was slightly limited at the restaurant when I was there being low season and a themed night. My favourite area was the main facilities area with the restaurant, bar, pool and beach all near each other and they all blended in together which gave a good relaxed atmosphere.

Sala Phuket has a great chilled out atmosphere with a wonderful open design which seamlessly leads from one element into the next especially from the pool to the bar! The whole place has an elegant and modern feel which is really fantastic for those days that you just want to sit back and relax with a good book.

The Sala Pool Villas are amazing and some of my favourite private pool villas in the whole of Thailand. You enter through a gateway to your own area that is vast and completely private as you are surrounded by walls. The bedroom is lovely with airy and calming interiors and a really comfortable bed. Outside the main focus is on the pool that is long and you can even do small laps in it. At one end is the bathroom that is completely open to the elements and takes funky to a new level. There is a huge bath and chandelier overhead (all outdoors) and I loved it. Although it is maybe not to everyone’s taste as there is no privacy in the bathroom.
