The weather in Barcelona is pleasant during the majority of the year. Throughout the summer months, from July to September, the temperature is likely to be between 20 and 30°C, while the city and beaches are busy with tourists. May and June are some of the best months to visit Barcelona, as temperatures are around 20°C and the streets are quieter. During the winter months the temperature dips to an average of 10°C and rain is more likely.

The Grand Hotel Central, located in the chic Gothic district in the heart of Barcelona offers a sophisticated yet relaxed environment to enjoy away from the bustle and buzz of the vibrant city. Enjoy a cocktail on the fabulous rooftop terrace at sunset.
The Grand Hotel Central is situated in the trendy El Born district in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. Surrounded by narrow cobbled streets lined with lively restaurants, bars and designer boutiques, the location is fantastic and the hotel, provides a quiet retreat in which to relax after a busy day sightseeing.
The Grand Hotel Central, housed in a grand 20th-century building, is elegantly decorated in an urban minimalist style with wooden floors throughout, wrought iron lamps, neoclassical stairways and low-level sleek, dark furniture which is complemented by the muted colour scheme. The 147 bedrooms are contemporary and comfortable and have big windows; most of which face onto Barcelona Cathedral, the Gothic district or the ancient city walls.
The hotel's restaurant, City Restaurant serves a menu of traditional Mediterranean recipes with a contemporary twist, using local produce to deliver innovative and exciting dishes. The highlight of the Grand Hotel Central is the fabulous roof top infinity pool open during the warmer months. There are sunbeds and a rooftop bar making it the perfect place to enjoy a delicious cocktail while admiring the stunning views across the city while the sun sets.
The hotel also has a gym equipped with state of the art equipment, a spa with a few treatments rooms, a sauna and a steam room.
Contemporary styled rooms with natural light and high ceilings, soft natural colours, warm wooden floors and fully equipped bathrooms that create an air of calm and elegance.
Head chef Ramón Freixa delivers exciting and delicious creations with his most "homely" cooking combining Catalan recipes with local produce.
Next to the restaurant you'll find The City Bar: mojitos, gin & tonics, great music, sandwiches, salads and the finest coffees, teas, hot chocolates, and during the summer months head up to the roof and discover the fabulous rooftop terrace and Sky Bar and you'll have the best view of Barcelona.
There is also a gym, sauna, steam room and spa.
Barcelona does not need musings on what to do. There is so much on offer - art, architecture, shopping and dining. The hotel will happily help you to arrange your day based on your preferred interests and activities.

The Grand Hotel Central however is the ideal base for strolling through Barcelona's Gothic quarter, visiting one of the many bustling beaches of the city or even shopping for some espadrilles on the famed street La Rambla. Other than a spectacular location, the Grand Hotel Central offers a beautiful rooftop terrace complete with a Sky bar, plenty of lounge furniture to cosy up on and look at pictures from the day's adventures, and a small pool to take a dip in with panoramic views of the city. The City Restaurant offers some tapas favourites, including my personal favourite Iberian Ham croquettes, a delicacy seen almost everywhere in Spain! Other amenities in the hotel include a wellness suite offering a steam room and sauna as well as a small fitness centre. With so much to do you'll hardly have time to be at the hotel, but when you are, rest assured that you'll be well taken care of!

I spent two nights at the Grand Central Hotel in Barcelona and it was an ideal choice for us. It is in such a great location to explore the city so close to the Gothic Quarter and the Barcelona Cathedral, and easy enough to walk down to the beach area as well as La Rambla. The hotel is super stylish and elegant with sleek, simple and comfortable rooms. We stayed in a Loft Suite which offered us plenty of space and it had huge windows allowing plenty of sunlight in and great views out. Families might like to consider staying in a Master Suite which has a separate living area and they can accommodate two adults and two children. All the rooms have a bath tub something that I love, and the Loft Suites come with a fully equipped Nespresso coffee machine very helpful to get us up and out for the day or down to the scrummy breakfast which is included in your stay. We arrived to find welcome sweets on the bed and then returned in the evening to find chocolates at turn-down all the little touches that make one feel special and add to the luxurious feel of the hotel. The hotel has a really cool roof top terrace, with Sky Bar and swimming pool where you can easily while away the hours taking in the gorgeous city views. The funky City Bar, located on the ground floor and on the main road (Via Laietana), offers a convivial atmosphere with excellent cocktails tried and tested. Other facilities include a Wellness Suite with steam and sauna, and there is also a gym but I didnt use this or even see it too many other exciting things to do in such an amazing city!
