The best time to visit this area of India is October & November when the views are best. December and January are colder, but with excellent views. The spring offers good conditions, but the views can get misty as it gets warmer. The Village Houses and Leti are closed during the monsoon from May to mid September.
Itinerary
Fly to Delhi
New Delhi, India
Start the adventure in Delhi where you will have a few nights to explore with your private guide. Pass your days visiting Humayun's Tomb, the Qutb Minar and wandering through the bustling markets of Chandni Chowk.
Accommodation: The Imperial ( 2 nights )
Shakti Village Walk
From Delhi you will take the fast train to Kathgodam which takes around five hours. Here you will be able to freshen up in the nearby hotel before driving three hours into the foothills in , in the little known Kumaon region lies in the northern hill state of Uttarakhand. . You will then embark on the short walk to the first village of Deora.
Over the next four nights you will be staying at the Shakti Village Houses and the concept is that you will be the only visitors on these walks, and the houses will be yours exclusively - it is very much all about sustainable low key tourism so that the experience remains absolutely authentic to all guests who visit the area. Your party will consist of a private guide, porters and cooks and you will can explore this little patch of the mountains at your own pace.
Over the following days you will enjoy walking between the village houses, learning and understanding the local ways of life. Here you will be spending your time in an area that experiences almost no tourism and as such you are very much the celebrity for the day as everyone will come running out to see who you are! The trekking can be as hard or as difficult as you want, and all itineraries are adapted for each and every guest. Your guides are masters at finding out what you like and don't like, and will enhance the experience as it goes along. Accommodation: Shakti Kumaon Village Houses ( 4 nights )
Leti
At the end for your Shakti experience you will drive to Leti, where you will be able to spend a couple of nights relaxing in front of log fires and days enjoying walks with picnic wallahs on hand as you overlook the incredible surrounding views.

Delhi
From Leti you will return to Delhi, which you will reach with a car and train transfer and here you will have one final night before flying home. It is quite a journey from Leti to Delhi which is why we have included one final night here, so that you have plenty of time to connect to your onward flight.
