In the vibrant city of Amritsar lies the Harmandir Sahib, or Golden Temple, the holiest shrine in Sikhism and a symbol of equality and peace. This dazzling structure, shimmering in the middle of a sacred pool, welcomes visitors from all faiths. At its heart rests the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book, placed under a jewel-encrusted canopy.

While a daytime visit offers a peaceful atmosphere and the chance to admire the temple’s golden façade reflected in the water, returning in the evening for the Palki Sahib ceremony is truly unforgettable. As devotional singing fills the air, hymns are recited by the priests before the Guru Granth Sahib is carefully closed, placed in an ornate golden palanquin, and carried by devotees to its resting place for the night. This beautiful ritual, steeped in symbolism and community spirit, offers a deeply moving insight into Sikh faith and tradition.
