Periplus Sunrise at the Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal has been described as a ‘tear on the face of eternity’ and an enduring monument of love. The unique beauty of this complex is blended with grandeur and it is immaculately design in the most intricate way. It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan in the memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. Starting in 1593, the Taj Mahal took 22 years to complete and today is counted among the Seven Wonders of the World. Visiting the Taj Mahal at sunrise is an exquisite experience as when the sun raises its shines off the monument’s gleaming marble surface and the building is reflected beautifully in the water in front of it. Please note that the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.

Please note the Archaeological Survey of India is currently working on a long term restoration project of The Taj Mahal that may take up to 3 years. This is a slow and delicate process and may involve wrapping parts of The Taj Mahal in clay with some scaffolding. The magnificence of the Taj Complex remains, and the detailing is generally not interrupted, however it may be noticeable and may affect your photographs. Our guides will do everything they can to limit any disruption to your visit.
