Day 1-3

Delhi

The itinerary starts in Delhi, where you will have two nights to kick off your itinerary. As one of the oldest cities in India there is a wealth to explore in Delhi and on arrival you’ll be met by your private guide and driver.  Over your time in city you’ll have the chance to take a rickshaw through Old Delhi and a visit to Jama Mosque, Humayun’s Tomb and a lovely drive through New Delhi taking in the beautiful boulevards and architecture largely inspired and driven by Lutyens.

Accommodation: The Oberoi New Delhi ( 2 nights )
Day 3-6

Leh

Then it is on to Ladakh, which you will reach by a short one-and-a-half-hour flight from Delhi to Leh. On arrival you will be met at the airport and driven the short 45 minutes to The Ultimate Travelling Camp – Chamba Thiksey which you will be calling home for the next three nights. Beautifully designed, each tent comes equipped with a four-poster bed, thick carpets, luxurious en-suite bathrooms and private outdoor sitting areas with 360° panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. On your first afternoon and night at the camp, take time to acclimatise to your new altitude and enjoy the beautiful surrounding views. The following morning again is at a leisurely pace and in the afternoon we have included a visit to Matho Monastery followed by a tour of Leh Palace and a visit to Shanti Stupa for sunset. Rise early on your last full day at Chamba Camp Thiskey and travel to Thiskey monastery to witness the morning prayers. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and in the evening we have included a tour of Hemis Monastery, one of the most ancient monasteries in the entire Ladakh region.

Day 6-9

Leh

Today, after breakfast you’ll depart Chamba Camp Thiskey and travel towards Nubra Valley, crossing over the Khardung La, the highest motorable road in the world. The drive time will be approximately six hours and a half hours. On arrival at Chamba Camp Diskit, spend the rest of the day settling into the new camp. The following day we have included a beautiful tour to the Hidden Lake which is considered to be holy and surrounded by rocky and barren terrain it is a strikingly beautiful area. From here you’ll continue to the hamlet of Sumur to get a better understanding of the connection between the local community and the land. In the evening we have included a camel trek through the Hundar Sand dunes, known for their incredible scenic beauty. For your final full day at Chamba Camp Diskit, we have included a tour to Turtuk, one of the last villages on the Indo-Pakistan border that was once part of the Silk Route.
