Private Guided Hike on Queen Charlotte Track

Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlborough and Nelson, New Zealand

Explore the picturesque Queen Charlotte Track on a privately guided hike from Ship Cove to Endeavour Inlet, passing stunning native foliage and extensive views of the Marlborough Sounds.

After being collected from your accommodation, your Wilderness Guide will meet you and help you aboard the water taxi where you’ll travel for one hour from Picton to Ship Cove, past salmon farms and sea birds. Visited many times by Captain Cook, this remote reserve was also an early Maori settlement and is a fascinating area which will be brought to life by your knowledgeable local guide.

With panoramic views across the Queen Charlotte Sound, the route takes you along a section considered to be one of the most beautiful, with lush beech forest, punga ferns and other foliage native to New Zealand. As you walk your guide will point out any sites of European and Maori historical interest as well as bird and wildlife.

Enjoy a packed lunch and a cup of plunger coffee or tea with dramatic views of the Marlborough Sounds before you reach the historic Furneaux Lodge where you could relax with a drink. You will be collected by water taxi for the return journey to Bay of Many Coves in the late afternoon.

We would recommend bringing a raincoat, warm jacket, warm/thermal top (polypropylene), T-shirt, warm trousers, shorts, woollen/polypropylene socks, strong shoes or lightweight boots, a sunhat, warm hat, sunglasses, daypack and a drinks bottle of at least 1 litre.
